Do you get sick often?

I have noticed that, from the people around me (relatives, friends, etc), there are people who are often ill, and others who seem to be immune and never fall into that? I personally only remember having 2 or 3 flus in my life. I never get ill, and apart from appendicitis when little and 3 or 4 injuries from the sports i've played for years, in general i'm never sick. What about you friends? do you get ill often? are you one of the unlucky ones who get the flu winter after winter?

I am sick more often than I would like, to be honest. I get a lot of colds during the winter. I try not to let it get me down, and I try to work through it. I find the best way for me to get through it is to sweat it out of me, so I tend to push meself to work harder and find a lot more jobs to do around the house. :-)

some people just get colds all the time. I don't know why it happens. My mother is like you, she is the permanent candidate to catch a cold or a flu, it's incredible lol. Thank you for replying.

I am afraid if there is something that can go wrong with the body chances are that it'll happen to me! I suffer from several conditions and they sort of breed other illnesses - it's like putting a gremlin a drink after midnight! lol Never mind one of these days I will be totally fit and healthy! xxx

I think that even in the same person things can vary greatly depending on different factors. I used to be ill very rarely. Actually even when I was ill I use to recuperate really fast - faster than many of the people I knew. Lately I have been getting ill more often. It's not only that I am older and my immune system is probably more sluggish, but also because I have been living with much stress and tension for quite some time. At times where things are less stressful I again find that I don't get sick as often.

I don't get sick often and I'm thankful to the Lord for the good health. My kids just recovered from some illness and they are now in good health. I think sickness is part of our life that we have to go through but It is us also who can prevent most of it.

I have been around my children having stomach viruses, my husband...his brothers... I never caught any of it! I was just saying this in a post about a week ago and I think I jinxed myself because a couple of days later my youngest daughter (almost two) started throwing up. It was her very first time ever being sick. The very next day I had it too. It was HORRIBLE! My parents got it (we are visiting) too. My husband got it much milder. My 6 year old daughter had it for half a day and now she is perfectly fine! So far the boys aren't showing any signs of getting sick. I wish I could bounce back that quick! It took me 3 days to feel normal! It had been 4-5 years since I had been sick like that. I don't get sick very often at all but when I do, I get really sick!

When I was younger, I was always sick. I had chronic strep throat, and after years of throat swabs and medication, my body couldn't get rid of the virus, and I had to get my tonsils taken out due to a high risk of sleep apnea. I also had appendicitis, but that was when I was 3. After having my tonsils removed 4 years ago, I am almost never sick.I guess my body is just taking a break from being sick for so many years. I am just thankful that was the worst of my medical history. :)

About the only time I get sick is when I'm under a lot of stress. Other than when I'm stressed, I very seldom get sick. I've noticed that a lot of sickly people are the very ones that go around with using antibactierial gels and such almost compulsively. I believe their not being exposed to things as often because of this, really weakens the immune system.

I have accute allergies. This means that my immume system is always running at top speed - attacking things that are benign to other people, little things like the food I put into my body... the air I breathe - well, the stuff in the air I breathe... So, when I do get a virus or germ, my immune system cannot go any higher to attack these infections. SOOOO, I get sick - a LOT.

No not that too much I remember last yr I got a serious sore throat and fever because of infection, but from then I never had again any illness. As much as possible I took vitamins C everyday so that I have protection.

Hi LightninStrike! I guess, I am one of the lucky ones! hehe.. Don't get sick or ill often. Though we don't have winter here in our country, rainy season here makes a lot of people sick. However, the last time I got a flu was when I was still young and I don't even remember how young I was then. I do pray that I will have the flu once in awhile so I will lose my appetite so I will kinda slim down a bit. haha..LOL! Just joking! Take care and have a nice day! :)

I get sick more than I like. I work with the public, and have a school aged child. when he gets sick, I try my best to not catch it, wash hands often, you know, the usual premeasures, but I get it anyway. I also have seasonal allergies, and I tend to get sinus infections from that..usually at least twice a year. Just last week, I had pneumonia for the first time. Don't want that again. UGH!

I work in a call centre, so there are lots of people in an area with re-circulated air. I started getting a lot of colds all the time. I'm also a nail-biter since I was a little kids. I started putting bitter-tasting stuff on my nails to remind me to keep my hands out of my mouth. I'd say I cut down the number of colds I get by about two-thirds!

I am one of those people who really get sick whenever I am not in top physical condition. So I make sure that I sweat out and do exercise at least twice a week, eat healthy and take my vitamins. Still, I go get the flu at least 2-4 times a year.

When I was younger I barely ever got sick at all however after having kids everything changed. Prior to the age of 25 I most likely got sick a total of 5 or 6 times in my entire life. Over the more recent years though with three kids living with me and bringing home or getting sick often it has made me a lot more sick lately.

I work in the public alot and I think part of getting sick is from it being passed on to me by others. I do get colds....and nothing else for some reason. I haven't had the flu in 35 years...I am very lucky!

Luckily I have a very strong resistance. I don't easily got sick. I got sick once in a few years. But I do make my resistance strong by getting enough sleep and rest, eating the right food, less worries and really make some good time to unwind. In that way, I am able to avoid getting sick.
