I'll Call You Back...3 Weeks From Now

I admit I am famous for doing this. When someone calls you and you are busy, and you tell them you will call them back, do you? I would say 9 times out of 10 when I say it I don't end up calling them back, at least not within a reasonable time period. They call me at noon and I don't remember that I didn't call them back until midnight but it is too late to call then so I tell myself I will call them tomorrow and tomorrow comes and goes and it is a week later before I ever pick up that phone and call them back. My friends know that this is the way I am so they don't get mad at me anymore for doing this. Do you get mad when your friends say they will call you back and they don't? Do you call them again just assuming that they forgot or do you wait for them to call you?

lol...I'm known for this also! People usually give up on me and end up calling me back as if I never said I'll call them back. Even though I know I am this way I hate to admit that when someone tells me they will call back and don't it does sort of irk me....but then I'm a spoiled brat...lol...

That is too funny. You get mad when they don't call you back. Not me. I am usually so busy that I forget they even said it. One thing I do hate is when I have to put a call into a company and the customer service rep has to do some "research" and call me back. I may as well give up right then because I always end up placing 5 more calls before my issue ever gets resolved.

You actually get to speak to a real person? wow! I have been having the worst luck with calling businesses lately. I'm so sick of pressing 1 for English and then none of the following numbers have anything to do with the reason I'm calling them.

I don't get mad when they don't call back, I do the same thing and they know it. When you have kids and are busy working or have school- there really just aren't enough hours in the day. When I think about it or when they do we call each other back. Of course this goes out the window when there is something important that needs to be dealt with- some kind of life emergency...

I can usually tell by the persons tone if what they have to say is important. I'm not a real big phone person to begin with but if someone needs my help I will stop whatever I am doing and listen.

My friend does this to me all the time! At first when she used to do it, it would really hurt my feelings, but now I know its just the way she is, she doesnt mean it. I used to wait for her to get in touch with me, but now I usually just phone her and rib her about forgetting me!

I love your user name. It was my user name on eBay 9 years ago. LOL I do that to my friends too, but just the ones I rarely talk to. When we do finally talk again after one of us says I will call you back and doesn't we rib each other about not loving the other anymore.

I never wait for my friends to call me!!! I think that people must neglect all formalities when it comes to friends. I like them all and I know about all their imperfections.

Yeah, unfortunately for my friends I very rarely ring them back as I always seem to be occupied doing something else and I end up forgetting. They are always ringing me rather than the other way around, so I am unaware of how annoying it is to not get called back!

I never forget...and I always call back promptly...but the same cannot be said for my friends...and I've got used to it...lol I find that I forget things easily now (with too much on my mind)...so I usually make a note of who called and then get back after I finish my work. WEll, I do get mad if they take more than a day to call back!

lol..I understand,,,...I have too much on my mind. And I now find scraps of paper with people to be called back and I have no clue when I had noted it down....so now I've started putting the date and have a calendar printed out..that's on my fridge and mark it in there as soon as I get a call. But most of my friends now know that I can't always call back soon enough...so they tell me what the matter is and then I decide if it is urgent enough to get back to them...because I sometimes let work take a backseat if it's something important for my friends. But 12 hours is the maximum that anyone to wait for me to call them back. I'm very prompt...if I say I'll call..you can expect me to call.

There would be a shortage of paper if I wrote down a list of all the people I had to call back. I am so terrible about remembering appointments and things first I have to write them down on a notebook, then I put an alert in my cell phone, they I write it on the calendar hanging in my kitchen, and yet I have still missed an appointment or four. lol Between house work, the kids, homework, my volunteer work, my sweetie, the dog, my kids friends, and everything else I have on my plate on any given day it sometimes makes me wonder how I get what I do get done. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who knows me that I forget to make return calls.

I am like that too. I have got to the point that now I tell them to call me back. I try to tell people when to call me too. Like I'll say I'm putting Luann (my daughter) down at 9 call after that. Or what ever the day holds. I am bad that way because like you its midnight before I remember to call back. That's the only time I have to call people back.

Good discussion! lol, I am sometimes like this! I forget to call someone back because i get busy doing other things. But then i eventually do call them back. I usually make a point to do it if its been too long, when i remember, i'll stop what i'm doing and just CALL. I always apoligize!! I hope you do too! And some of my friends do it back to me, i hope not on purpose! lol.

I don't apologize only because the people I do this to I do this too ALL the time and they expect it from me. For me to say sorry would be apologizing for the way that I am. I sometimes think my friends do it to me to teach me a lesson. lol

Yes I sometimes do this too, but to those who I really don't know and just making an inquiry on something or just offering some promo on credit cards. But I also call back immediately as soon I am free of my activity to those who I know they need my return call as it is urgent.

Hmmmm you sound like one of my friends who's notorious for doing this .. I give her some time and then I call her back other wise I might see pigs fly before I get a call back. But I will admit there are times when this person does call back and I almost fall out of my chair. LOL!! I'm like that sometimes too. But I would say I do it about 2 out of 10 times. LOL!!! Have a nice one.

I do this quite often (except to my mother who I know would show up on my doorstep if I didn't LOL). Most of my friends and family understand. If I have time to call them back(and I remember) I do. If not it may be weeks. If its important they'll call me back. If someone does it to me its the same thing either I'll call them back if it's important or I figure they got busy and forgot, no big deal. Most of the people I would talk to on the phone I see almost every day anyway AND I have 3 teenagers so the chances of the phone being free are extremely slim! LOL

I HAVE to answer calls from my grandmother no matter what I am doing. I have already answered a call from her while I have been in the shower. LOL If I don't she will scream at me on my voice mail because she can't get over the idea that it is voice mail and NOT an answering machine so she thinks the louder she yells my name the better her chances are of me picking up the phone.

When someone calls me and I say I'm busy and I'll call them back. I do call them back quite soon after the phone call in that way I don't forget to call them back. If I wait for the next day I'll start procrastinating and than I never call them back. When I phone someone and they don't call me back I call them back.

If I'm busy, I'll ask the person calling to call back later. Mainly because I know I'd forget other wise. But people very rarely call me when I'm so busy that I can't talk, so it hardly ever happens.

That is an idea. Ask them to call me back! LOL But then I can see myself getting more phone calls than I already do while I am busy. So maybe that wouldnt work out for me.

yes I always call back the person who calls me even if its the next day. Of course I'm not as busy as I use to be when I was working. I have a friend who waits forever to call you back. She forgets all the time or so she says. She does have a busy life though. I keep calling her back until she talks to me.

I get so mad at myself when I do that. I never used to be that way but life just happens and I get busy or just plain forget. There really is no good excuse for not calling back. When you finally do call them you feel so guilty because it has been a while in between the calls. I have to go now and make a call that I should have made last weekend. Thanks for reminding me.

Sometimes I forget to call people back or deliberatley don't call them back if it is someone I don't really want to talk to. However most of the times I always call friends back as I like it when friends remember to call me back. I do not always call them back on time I exactly said though, as I get busy and forget at the time. It does annoy me sometimes when friends keep saying they will call back and never do. I won't call them assuming they forgot, I will wait till they call. But I am not one to hold grudges if they forget to call back. I understand everyone has busy lives just not all the time, lol.
