God is my Maker. My life, and everything else I possess, is His by right. Neither you nor I would have air to breathe if He decided to take it away. I owe Him worship, and so do you. You said in a comment on another thread that your biggest resentment against organized religion is that it teaches falsehoods to children, ironing beliefs into their heads during their formative years so they can never shake them as adults. I didn't respond to this comment of yours, but I want you to know that I agree with you. I was not taken to church as a child; I started going on my own when I was 14. I had the luxury of thinking for myself, and believe much of it to be either hagiography or outright fable. I've told you before how I came to believe, and that is always open to questioning. However, after you've actually been working closely with God for as long as I have, you can't deny it anymore. It's one thing for me to tell you what I've seen, it's another thing to see it for yourself. God has allowed me to receive bitterness from friends on multiple occasions, just so He could use me to teach a lesson of forgiveness in a remarkable coincidence the very next day. I can't tell you how many times this has happened in my life because I myself can't remember. The incident with my friend Nicole and her father's credit card was one of many; perhaps the reason it has happened so many times is because God knows I am not one to shirk my responsibilities out of spite. God has faith in me to respond the same way every time, which is why He keeps placing me in the same situations. Do you get what I'm telling you? God has different jobs for different personalities. Forgiveness is one of my strengths, and He takes full advantage of it. But before He can work with you, He has to open you up to it. This is where evangelism comes in. The problem is all the other garbage that so frequently goes with it. As soon as you become a believer, your talents become His to use. And after you've been serving Him long enough, belief becomes experience. It's not enough for me to tell you I "believe" God is real. I "know" God is real; I've seen Him, I've heard Him, I've been in His presence. What else can I say? I can't deny it! I don't know whether the Christ was real or not, and if He wasn't, I would almost be inclined to say that Christian teachings are hardly any better than Muslim teachings. So why do I go to a Christian church? I go because that's where I find the friendliest people. It may not be right to teach children that Moses lived in the day of unicorns, and saw the parting of the Red Sea; but it's better than telling them there is no Creator at all, and to be concerned only for themselves. The main ideals are the values, and God Himself. Most importantly, I refuse to tell someone not to believe in the Creator if I know there is one. You told me in the past that you've had discussions about absolute truth with an agnostic friend of yours, and lean toward the notion that a "higher power" or "creative intelligence" is more likely than not. If you believe this, why don't you stick to it? If you don't think Jesus Himself was real, go ahead and express this. But whether or not Jesus was real does not affect the reality of the Creator. And if you're less than convinced that the Creator is not real, don't pretend to believe so!

"And if you're less than convinced that the Creator is not real, don't pretend to believe so!" a philosopher always exercises every idea.. I would like you to answer this... http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1448552.aspx what are your beliefs based on?

Hi Fighting, My beliefs are based on anatomy, biology, and experience working with a Power greater than myself. If you go back and review a few of your previous discussions, you'll find specific details in my testimony. I've posted it more than once, and I'd rather not post it again. Even at 90 WPM, it's still a lot of typing!

I LOVE God, more than I worship God. I don't believe that God has an ego, but God has been great to me, so I choose to LOVE God and give thanks or all the wonderful things s/he (I can not gie God a gender) has chosen to give me.

I worship God becouse He is Good and powerfull, ominipotent and ominipresent. I worship God becouse He is begger than all things. God is above all things both seen and on-seen.He is the begining and the end the Alfa and the Omega. He is the giver and the owner of all things both in heaven and on earth. Nothing is to be compear with God.

This is definitely a thought-provoking question. I suppose I would fall into the category of worshiping God because of both. I believe in God and worship him because of what has been shown to me throughout my life, whether it's from personal experiences or from what I've learned through the Bible. I believe that God is a God of love. I also believe that he is all-powerful. When thinking of God, I do not think powerful being whom is out to destroy everything someday, but more love and a comforter and a being that is able to care and understand beyond our comprehension.

I don't consider myself giving up my life for God, but God giving me my life. I love God because he's just absolutely wonderful and good. I would never worship any god just because they're powerful. I don't believe in serving out of fear.

I personally would never give up my life again to any religion or deity.....When I DID follow that road though it was for neither of the reasons you mentioned really...It wasnt because of his "power" or whether or not he was "good" it was because it was what was seemingly right at that time in my life...I fell into the belief that if I followed his teachings life would be right and good...I learned as i got older however that it doesnt work that way...In all honesty since leaving Christianity, God and the Bible many many yrs ago life made a turn around, or rather I WAS ABLE to make my life turn around...

i worship God as part of my respect for him, and for being a good being who has helped through a lot of things. i believe too that he is all powerful, and he can actually do to me whatever he pleases.

Neither. I worship Him because I am grateful for my life. and I like His style. My G-d has a temper and isn't afraid to use it, that is something we have in common. But I am not giving up my life to G-d. I am not clergy and never want to be.

I Never said that. All I said is that He has a temper.I think of G-d as an artist, a artist with a great temper.

I do not"worship" God, because my God does not demand to be Worshiped. My God is a God of Love.( Absolute Love!) Absolute Love demands Absolutely Nothing! I try to be One-with-God. I am Thankful in Mind and Spirit 24/7. The ultimate reason for Life is to Merge with God so that He is no longer an Abstract Entity!

Dear friend, For me I personally feel God is someone with whom I can trust totally, whom I can tell my inner feelings, our needs that can be openly conveyed. It might be belief in God that makes one not to do sins purposely as there is someone to watch some to ask for that at any time. I like God as father of all.

I don't worship god because he isn't good or powerful in fact he doesn't exist. I choose to be a freethinker, a bright, an atheist. Whatever you wish to call it.

Our God is an awesome God. He is a jealous but in a good way of course. God wants us to believe in him, he wants to be worshiped and praised & ONLY him!. There will be trinity, which is God the Father, God the Son, & God the HolySpirit. We were saved from eternal damnation. The only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ so we must follow all Christ's teachings. God will not give us a trial that we can't handle. In Matthew 11.28, the Lord Jesus spoke in beautiful words:"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, I will give you rest."
