Does everyone here use the Qwerty Keyboard,or one of the alternatve versions? I'd read that there were various methods being worked out for the keyboard layout back when Mechanical typewriters were being brought in.. Qwerty was accepted as it made typists think about their keystrokes and reduced the mistakes of multiple keys jamming the mechanism...Now,We don't have mechanical keyboards...I've heard of One Alternative,Called "Dvorzak" which apparently is included in windows settings-keyboard mapping can be changed for Languages other than English-Dvorzak is listed within the Language settings..I know of One Online Writer who uses it and says it's much faster and Easier than the Qwerty layout..So have you heard of this or any other alternative to Qwerty, and do You use it? Would you Consider Using it? Thanks for looking!

ive heard of one that starts with N, i heard about it like 7 years ago in technology class in elementary school. even if the other layout was faster and easier, id never make the switch. its taken me years to be able to type without looking efficiently, im not about to go and ruin that by switching my keyboard with a different layout. however i think ifi t really is better that it would be a good idea to offer them to new users, like kids or someone buy a computer. then society could slowly make the change, like putting SI units on food and drink along with imperial ones.

Thanks for the response! would that have been the "Natural" Keyboard? trying to think if that was the one that had the Qwerty keys in an ergonomic design, split for each hand to use...another one I remember being trialed was the "Maltron" Keyboard..

I have a spanish language keyboard which I am using while writing my current novel. My spanish is horrible, but having the extra characters on the keyboard saves me a lot of time not having to go through the special character menu in windows. I also have a Cyrillic one I bought at the same time, but I have never used it because I have never tried writing anything that needed those characters, but rest assured if I ever introduce a russian character or setting I will plug that one in too. I also have a circular gaming keyboard which doesn't get used very often now that I have a playstation and xbox. The nice thing about USB keyboards is you can have several at once.
