When I hear filipino it takes me back to when I was about 9 or 10 years old I had a girlfriend in school Avangiline and we would go to her house and her mother was always telling me to eat she would have something made everyday after school and some of the things I couldn't tell you what they were but it was great, those were some of the happiest thimes of my life.

now that I have been thinking about it, I also remember her beautiful nose....The filipino nose is very distinctive you cant miss it, and in my opinion is so beautiful and because of my past with her and her family, every time I see that nose it takes me back to that time, and I automaticly think of her and her family and it makes me smile and I know that the person will treat me good.

Maybe because mostly of filipina woman oriented for being a wife, a mother and a partner. Once they married they really stick to the marriage and mostly are martyr type. That's just only of my observations...

I've never traveled to the Philippines, so my opinion is based on the very limited number of Filipinos I know in real life and those I have met here on MyLot. Philippine women are strikingly pretty, the dark hair, fair complexion- it's just a very pretty combination. Those on mylot seem very friendly, happy and outgoing.

I am Filipino... and was lucky enought to have worked abroad for two years... and these are the good things that other nationalities would say about our countrymen... 1. Hard Working... 2. Intelligent... 3. Good in English... 4. Innovative... 5. Loyal... 6. Always happy... 7. Helpful... 8. Brave... 9. Simple... 10. Looks extremely young for their age... Well, in my case... i was already 28 then... but they thought that i was fresh out from college...

The first thing that comes to mind is my son-in-law. Although he has lived in the United States most of his life, his parents still live over there. And I am very proud of him, he is in the US Army and has served 3 tours of duty in Iraq. He is a wonderful, caring person.

I am a Filipino and I'm proud to be one! Well, I know that Filipinos are thoughtful, caring and talented. They are also helpful and hospitable people. But the negative side is most Filipinos are lazy that is why we are still a 3rd world country. Most Filipinos have poverty spirit, they keep on blaming God and the government why the their situation is like that.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word Filipino is my friend from church. She is a Filipino and one of the sweetest people that I know. she is a hard worker and a very loving mother. When she talks about her family back in the Island she talks about how poor her family is compared to here in the state. She also talks about what it was a pleasure to live there and work on the land.

I think of a great friend of the family that calls me DADDY! She now lives in Florida. She came here after her mother married an American. They lived in Cagayan deOro City. I still chat with her through our Myspace pages. I love ya Ruby. Daddy misses ya girl. I think it's the fact that they are very pretty and short is why men want to marry one. Other than that I can't think of a reason. Well maybe becasue of the Philippine culture as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA (LOLO?) BOB !!~

I have an aunt that is 100% Filipino so I think of her when I hear the word. I don't know much about the country other that there is some political mess over there and it is cheap to live there (from what my uncle says). Thanks Zelo

i did not know anything about the Philippines until i got a Philippine doctor and i would see him about my problems with my divorce. But waiting to see the doctor i would talk to his wife and this was in 1980..so she told me about the different types of people in the world and how sometimes it was not all my fault because I could not get along with my two ex wives that were from the US (like me) so I started to write to Philippine women and most of them were in the Philippines but some in Hong Kong and Canada working and I even met a few working as nurses in and near my home of Detroit, Michigan..but I wrote to one gal starting in 1981 and we wrote and exchanged letters and she had a sister in New Mexico and had been to the US working..so I after four years I went to Tokyo, Japan and we dated and I met her friends and her bosses and everything checked out. So on July 12, 1985 we got married in the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan..22 years ago..since then we have both worked and now have two homes..one in Monroe, Michigan and one in the Philippines and I learned a lot of things about the difference in cultures. My wife is a Christian and so am I and we both have the same work ethics but she does not believe in divorce and we have had good and bad days as no marriage is perfect but I have learned that my first two marriages were a gross error as I had married ladies who were too immature for marriage and I was also unrealistic in my marriage thinking so it was a slow process to learn how to find happiness in a marriage. It takes a lot of maturity and most men are just not mature enogh when it comes to marriage...but my wife from the Philippines knows that the home and marriage come before anything else in life...without a good base and without faith and love there is nothing. Looking back my parents and past generations had this thinking process but it seems after WWII the world has lost this gift or way of living.

I am a black man and I can answer this question for most of us. Filipino's are perceived to us, as beautiful, nice women, very submissive with long hair. This is an excellent alternative, (some black men will say better)to black women. A lot of black women are becoming loud, obnoxious gold diggers, and a lot of them have are taking on the roles of being in control of the relationships and black men just don't want to deal with that. A lot of black men are realizing that we are becoming more attractive to other races of women at this day and age. We don't have to put up with women who don't want to be women anymore. So that is why we are more susceptible to dating Filipino's.

I use to live in Filipino family in USa. They were mixed family and great people. First what comes in my mind are them and also those white traditional shirts - I saw them during Filipino dance festival.

HOSPITABLE,thats true, when we have relatives to visit at home my mother always cook food, anything she can offer to them, sometimes I hate that attitude also because my mother always remind me to entertain our visitors, she wants us to smile always, but Im proud of that.

I heard that when some people hear the word Filipino the thing that comes into mind is "caretaker", maybe its because that there have already been many Filipinos who have gone out of the country to become caretakers in other countries. But i think they should not generalize since not all Filipinos are caretakers. Its not that being a caretaker is not good, but when you say a person is a Filipino he/she could be just anyone of any profession..

The first thing that comes to my mind is that, Filipinos are talented in singing. Anywhere I go, there are a lot of Filipinos who are very good in singing. Their singing is really powerful. I also observed that Filipino singers are everywhere in the world. Recently, I watched this American Idol and one contender is a filipino. I am not surprised at all. I know Jasmine Trias and Camile Velasco who were part of the said competition as well. In boxing, Manny Pacquio who is a champion in boxing as well as can sing. I was just surprise that someone like him also has a pleasant voice. His cd is also available here. There is this girl named "Charice" who was once featured in Ellen Show, and Arnel Pineda who is also a filipino, now a lead vocalist of the band, Journey. A lot more to mention and I can't remember all their names. Wish I am as good in singing as well. So I can do concerts..HAHA..Dreaming. Keep posting, Mickey
