Yes, it's good for your brain. Our brains need exercise like reading. We need to sharpen it everyday to gain more knowledge.

I think the brain is like any part of the body, you need to keep exercising it. So reading is a very good way to keep your brain in good condition. I have read that old people are less likely to suffer from dementia if they keep their mind active. I think also the amount of knowledge you get from reading will make you a wiser person. Even if you only read for entertainment, a good novel will give you insight and understanding of life and may even make you see things differently.

I believe reading is of great importance to the exercise of our brain. The more we read the wiser and healthier our brain is. So read more books from now onwards in order to get a healthier and wiser brain.

Reading is a good book atleast once in every month (when I say read atleast once means that you get to finish the entire book) since you're imagination is running as you go along the book..this stimulates the brain and keeps it sharp..

Of course, reading is good for your brain. Anytime you are putting information in your head you are adding to the knowledge that you have there. Even if you are reading comic books you are reading and taking words into your brain. There is always something there that you didn't know before even if you don't realize it. I can remember reading a love story years ago that involved climbing down into a cavern...........I learned things about it that I had no idea about it.

Reading is really good for the brain. The cells on our brain will be stimulated by reading. First, they simulated the eyes for reading it, the brain dechiper the image that captured through our eyes, into alphabets that we recognize in our memories and then decipher one by one into words. By reading, we activate our brain to work more effectively, so it's good for our brain.

i read at prevention.com that activities that requires your brain to work harder (relative to just watching tv) increases the chances that you'll get alzheimer's disease.. that includes reading, chess, board games, etc... so go ahead, indulge!

I wouldn't be where I am now if I weren't a prolific reader so yes, reading is good for the brain, really good. It renders the neurons useful, allows you to develop new connections, improves your memory, helps you gain knowledge and use it. However, I agree with the people who said there are some materials that is not good for the brain. So the best course would be to avoid those materials. If you want to hone your brain further, I think philosophical and theological discussions are the best courses. :D

Reading is about the best possible thing yu can do for your brain. Read until it hurts, lol. It is funny how so many jocks say "No pain, no gain" when they exercise, but when they have to do some thinking, they say, oh, this makes my head hurt. There are smart jocks, too, but you know which ones I mean. Reading not only exercises the brain but it gives you life experience you would have to live several centuries to obtain first hand. This experience helps you avoid terrible mistakes. Learn from the failures of others and succeed! Read, read, read.

Reading is extremely healthy for the brain. When you are reading you are giving your brain a workout. And plus you learn new words when you are reading. I would learn a new word when I am reading then I think I forgot about it but then when I am writing a paper I suddenly use that word and then I am like "where did this word come from?" So i think reading is good for your brain.

Reading is definitely good for the brain. It helps keep memory intact as you age and it also helps to increase your vocabulary. When my children were younger, I hardly read because I was too busy keeping up with them and their activities. Once I got time to breath, I realized that my memory and recall skills were pretty diminished. As I read more and more, my memory greatly improved.
