How did you choose your little one(s) name(s)? Did you name them after someone in your family, in the movies, someone close to you, etc. Did you use a baby name book or did the name just come to you? My daughter, Jocelyn, was not named after anyone. Her dad and I were eating dinner at a restaurant and he blurted out the name Jocelyn, and we both just new that was going to be her name. It just seemed right. Her middle name is Alyce, after my grandmother.

My first born son, Jeffrey, was named immediately after birth. His father had his mind set on Scotty, but images of 'Beam me up, Scotty' kept floating through my head! I told him, just give me a minute, something will come to me (I had my heart set on a girl, hence not having a boys name to begin with! lol). Anywhooo....I closed my eyes, and got real quiet, the name 'Jeffrey' popped in, and I shouted it out loud! lol My boyfriend said, ok, that's a good name. I was pleasantly surprised to read later that it meant 'Peace with God'!! lol My second born son, Kyle, took me three days to name, and I didn't even like his name at first! What cinched it for me was I put his name into the sentence, "______, get your butt in here for supper!!" It fit perfectly!! lol I gave both my boys their father's first name, seeing as they used their middle ones (fathers), out of respect. There ya have it! lol :-)

There was no choice given to me in this matter because it is our family tradition[in laws'] to name the grandchildren after the grandparents. If it is a boy, he gets his grandfather's name and if it is a girl then grandmother comes back again. We can have small variations though. We just lengthened our son's name. That is all.

If I had a girl, I had a family name I was going to give her. Since I had a boy, it was a little more difficult. My husband and I played around with name books, names we heard from people, everything. The first name we finally settled on (Dustin) just kind of came out of nowhere, but his middle name is Xander, and that came from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

My middle name is my great grandmother's first name. so i wanted all my kids middle names to be after someone. we looked through tons of baby books for first names. my oldest is hannah leigh. i had just always liked the name hannah. her middle name actually ended up coming from 2 family members. my grandmother's middle name was lee and my husbands sister's middle name was lea. so we changed the spelling and gave it to our daughter. my middle one is hailey nicole. again, i had just always liked the name hailey. nicole came from my best friend. my best friends middle name is nicole also, but she has always gone by that instead of her first name. we have been best friends for over 20 years. our son is logan charles. his middle name is my dads middle name. my dad didn't get to have a son, so i thought it would be special to name his grandson after him. his first name is timothy, but i didn't really care for that so i used his middle name.

My husband chose my first son's name, Parker, because he liked the sound of it. I chose Powell's name, because it started with a P, and I liked it. Palmer was picked by my husband. The next child we had the kids asked to stop with the P names, so we named him after my husband's best friend Tyler. Then we had Cody who was named by Powell. We named the last child Luke because my husband wanted to say, "Luke, I am your father."

My daughter is named and meaning of that name is "intelligent & witty". When I was choosing her name, I searched through the internet a name which means intelligent becuase I wanted a name which has no obvious meaning in itself. I never searched any name associated to beautiful, lovely or the like, for I was not so sure if she will be beautiful. At least, if I will choose a name with other meaning and it will turn out differently, it will not be obvious. Fortunately, I was not wrong in choosing such a name for her.

My first daughters name was to be Isabella Sara, but my husbands cousin was not thrilled as her daughter is named ISabelle and she did not want to have two isabelle's in the family. Even if it was just Isabelle and Isabella... SO, We decided to have her middle name be Isabelle and her first name Grace. I picked Grace because it means Gift from God, and that is truly what she was for us a Gift from God, took us 5 years to conceive her. When we were going to my husband's grandmother's grave, I had gotten some flowers They were Anastasia's....And he said IF we have another baby girl we should name her Anastasia. So we did, our second daughter's name is Anastasia and I wanted her middle name to be Sara which is my sisters name. My sister was not all for it so instead we used my husband's sisters name which is Joy. So Grace Isabelle and Anastasia Joy.

My daughter was named after my father. I just feminized the name. Her middle name was suppose to be my middle name, but my aunt had just had another daughter and she used the same first name and my middle name. So, I had to find another middle name that would flow well. I went with Marie instead of Lynn. My son was named after his father, exactly! He is now a second! His father refused to allow him to be labelled a Junior. I don't see the big deal, but what's done is done.
