I went to the dr yesterday. I have tendinitis in my right wrist. Also discovered a ganglean cyst on my RIGHT wrist. So doctor gives me a splint and instructions with pain meds.He wraps my wrist. And my index finger of my right hand starts to hut about 10 minutes after I leave the office. Long story short, its my RIGHT wrist thats injured. The splint is for the LEFT wrist.

Ok, I could see him giving you the wrong splint, but for him to put it on you and not realize that he put the wrong one on give me no confidence in this doctor at all. I would be going back to that office and make him get you the right one.

This is why it is important for a patient to pay attention, watch, and consider what's going on. There are stories about mixups in healthcare. You, yourself, recently posted a discussion about medicine mixups with children. Much the same here. The Doctor looked for a splint and found one. He wanted to find one for your right wrist. Because this was what he wanted to see, when he found a brace, to his eyes he saw it as a brace that would work. Partially, that is because finding a brace that works allows him to stop looking. He made a mistake but at least it wasn't one that had serious consequences for you. You noticed something was wrong, thought about what you noticed, and realized the mistake. Imagine a circumstance where the mistake is one of type or level of medicine .. how in the world can you notice that mistake and correct it on your own without help?Paying attention is a good tool for protecting yourself.

Good lord. No wander you were in pain after he or she got done with you. You have to be so careful as to what kind of physician you see these days. alot of them do not care to do their practice right. they just want the money and get you in and get you out as fast as possible and move on to the next patient. Did the doctor give you the right splint after that. Who noticed it was the wrong one, your doctor or you first?

WOW, that is totally unacceptable. I think I would defintly change Doctors. Also did he test you for carpal tunnel syndrom? You might consider this too, especially if you work with your hands, or use a computer all day. I had tendinitis for years, befor they found out it was carpal tunnel. I had the surgery, the only way to go and have been pain free for years now. Good luck to you, I hope you find a better Doctor?

Well, at least you didnt wake up in blood or anything. I was picking up a pocket knife off of my floor about a year or so ago, to put it back in its display case. But it wasn't all the way closed, and it caught my finger. My regular doctor wasn't in, so I had his I guess you could say co practice doctor(they both worked out of the same office.) Well He did not wrap my finger in the pressure bandage and secure it correctly. Well I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night with a bloody hand and bed linens, because the bandage came off while I was sleeping and that allowed it to bust back open. Needless to say he got in trouble when my regular doctor returned.

i can see why you are upset if he put it on the wrong arm...i mean i thought that doctors had to go to school for a while to be able to do their job...but that is happening more and more these days...i mean if you honestly think about it...i have heard about doctors that take out the wrong organ or something like that..i would call them back and ask why they did that and i woudln't take anything that they gave me... jhl930
