Cops did not like me there with my camera

Well sitting here doing internet stuff I heard a lot of sirens. At least 4 differnt ones all in a minutes time. I ran to see what was going on. They all stopped a couple blocks from me. So I grabbed my camera and hopped on my bike to check it out. Seems there was a domestic dispute. The girlfriend/wife had stabbed the man during a lopud disagreement after a day that started off with shots of Brandy at 9 a.m. Go figure. I wonder if theres an alcohol problem with this rrelationship. Anyhow, as most my friends here know I take p[hotos of things that can make a good discussion. Man did I get some great shots of her being cuffed and him being loaded into the ambulance. He was bleeding very heavily from the chest area and the ambulance left quickly code red. Lights and sirens blaring to the hospital a copuple miles away. Well then as I was getting ready to head back home I heard, "EXCUSE ME SIR!" Loudly. Seems the police wanted to ask me some questions I figured. They asked about me taking photos then asked for press credentials. HAHAHA! I loved the fact they though a reporter arrived on the scene by bicycle and wearing a tank top and shorts with no shoes. Now that was one smart cop. After explaining what my intent was with the photos he asked to see them. Seeing that faces were visible in the shots he asked to have them deleted in front of him for the vistim and assailants annyonimity. So this is the only shot they let me keep. I loved being thought of as a news reporter on a bike with shorts and no shoes. Have you ever been asked not to publish photos for any reason? Have you had the law ask to have them deleted right in front of them? This is Channle 1's anchor Grandpa Bob signing off for now. Keep it simple and may you have a good news day!" My little news catchphrase I guess. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

All in a days work! Just be glad that you have a digital if it had been a 35mm they would have made you expose the whole film, losing everything else you had on it! A reporter in disguise riding a bike! Well could be on a bike these days especially with the cost of gas.

Doesn't it make you feel safe when you see the incredibly good critical thinking skills of your local police? Ha! I have never been asked to delete photos by the police...mainly because I was never quick enough to get any photos that they would want! I do know that in the emergency room, we have to ask the patient's permission to take photos and that we cannot release them without the patient's signature. I am so glad to know you Grandpa Bob; when you are the next Walter Cronkite or DAvid Brinkley I will be able to say that 'I knew you when..'!!!

The funniest thing is I was also wearing my slippers when I was there. I didn't remember that till a little while ago. I recalled this because I had to change shoes to go riding afterwards. Too funny. Brainy cops here thats for sure. NOT! THIS IS CHANNEL 1'S ANCHOR GRANDPA BOB SAYING, HAPPY POSTINGS!!~

Hi GRANDPA BOB! I guess you have a new career now. You are now a news correspondent! I have never been asked to delete photos by the police nor have I taken shots like that. Maybe because I don't own a camera?! Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

I took photos in the same city this fall of a serious accident and posted photos here. The cops came to me and only asked me to back up some while I took the photos. They never asked to see them and what not. There were not any faces shown in those that I reall other than the cops I think. But this was funny. Hi GRANDPA BOB! Being an anchorman really suits you from he sound of it! Maybe it is because the police want their faces to be plastered instead on the news with the headline.."Gorgeous cops on the rescue!" Just my thoughts dear friend! Take care and have a nice day!

I guess that would be a reporter for a public access channel right? You get to dress any way you want. At least they let you keep one picture.

When does the pledge drive start? I have about 50 cents I can pledge. It might buy you a nice reporters hat at a resale shop.

Nice Car! Well I understand why they would ask you to delete the photos. I wonder if they would have let you keep them if you were from the press?? Anyways, it sounds like an exciting day. They way you explained it to us, I think we all have some sort of visual, so all is not lost!

yes it is very illegal and have made me delete pictures for the same thing, you are not allowed to show any part of the picture of the people that may be identified, you can get sued by the people if you do use those pictures. It is funny that they thought you a reporter, cops just never take the time to think in those instances all they know is they were trying to protect you from a lawsuit...It is nice to get pictures like that but identity of people nowadays is very personal.

I understood the opart of their faces etc showing and would have blacked their faces out. But the best part of this all is the way I was dressed and arrived at the scene. Yet they still asked to see my press credentials. Not ask if I was a reporter or anything just show me your credentials. Too funny. Thanks for the response as well. LOL Now this is another first for me. You almost got away scott free. Next time, Reporter Bob, keep yourself well hidden so as not to get caught. I've seen people take pics alot at accident scenes but since domestic violence never happens around me, there are never any shots either I or anyone else can get.

Wow Bob I wonder if there will be any real news footage on that. I will have to catch the news later. Sounds like it was rather gruesome. I can understand why the cops asked you to delete the photo's. We all know why you wanted them, but the cops I am sure cannot just believe what you tell them.Is funny though they thought you were a reporter. Maybe you should start a new profession

Okay a few details now then about the "crime scene" as I percieved it at the time of the crime. The victim was clutching his chest near his heart. Blood was driopping through his fingertips as the paramedics tended to his wound. As he was brought out on thre stretcher he had a large gauze placed on his wound and it was soaked in crimson red blood stains. The assailant was then brought out in handcuffs and placed into the back seat of a squad car. her head hung low in shame seeing the camera taking her photo. As the last of a few flashes lit up the cars window the ambulance sped off with it's lights on and siren wailing into the thin air echoing through the neighborhood. Oh Grandpa Bob how funny a newspaper reporter in shorts and barefoot. I have never been in that predicament but that police officer must have some weird ideas about how reporters dress on the job. lol Its a shame that they took most of your shots away from you but come to think of it I suppose they must keep the victim and the assailent in annyonimity . I had never thought of it like that before. happy postings.

Especially on a bike with just a digital camera. Give me a break officers. Wouldn't a reporter have a better collection and a bag for his cameras and lenses at least? Too funny. I loved this episode. Wow!! I am not sure I would have even wanted to take pictures like you did, but having them ask you to delete them. I guess it was for privacy issues, so they did not end up in the wrong hands, and then the people who were hurt end up suing you. Yes, we know you would have only posted them here for us to see, but how would the Cops really know this unless they are a member here as well.

no because I know it is an invasion of privacy, even when you see stuff like this on the news the face it covered. This kind of publicity could haunt them the rest of their lives, for other relationships, jobs, etc. But glad you got in one picture cub reporter lol,

LOL! That is funny! The Barefoot News! You may be onto something here! LOL! I have never had something like that happen to me but, then again, I don't have a passion for photography like you do! That is really funny! A bit of a bummer though. But, if you had put the pictures here, you might have gotten into trouble so, it is probably best that they caught you and made you delete them. And, it is probably comforting that you have officers of the law that are that on the ball in your area. It is their job to notice everything and everyone at a scene and, they did their job well! LOL! Cool story!

Good going Grandpa Bob, you really made an impression on the police officers.. But, I do believe that I would have known that you were not Press, I believe that I could have figured that out on my own, but I have never received any kind of official training.. Sounds like you have an interesting life, not me, I live in a very quiet neighborhood and none of my neighbors give me any topics of discussion.. Have fun but take care or you will get to ride in the car with the flashing lights, lol.. Happy posting to you..
