Well it is about time for us here in Minnesota. We can finally plant our cool weather plants outside including lettuce, onions, and few other types of veggies. I planted the green beans I've been growing indoors outside finally. They are hanging down slightly due to the shock but they should be fine. I planted 7 plants and will be digging more are up here to plant more seeds in a short time. Maybe next weekend even. I am glad that the weather is finally better. Now it's supposed to rain on and off for the next 4 days as well. My plants and flowers etc need some watering anyhow. That'll save on my water bill as well. Hows things growing in your nexk of the world? HAPPY GARDENING FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The weather has scupperd many picnic plans as eating a soggy snack has its drawbacks. As for the garden, the weather can have its advantages and disadvantages and time can work things out in the end. There has been a lot of rain in Scotland this year so far and it has been colder this year longer than normal. We never know what the future is but we always live in hope for better and more frequent sunshine days.

Only thing I have planted outside is my potatoes. My daughter and I planted the green bean and peanut seeds in small pots in the house the same night we planted the taters. Will be checking on them in a few days to see if any of them came up yet. My taters are doing great thou. They love their lausana bed.

Yeah, same ugly taters. lol Knew I misspelled it. It's Lasagna Gardening where you layer materials on the ground with newspapers as the first layer. http://ourgardengang.com/lasagna_gardening.htm

That is great to hear. We had a very sunny day here in Indiana today. It was very nice and warm outside and we got out and got the garden put in and did a little yard work also. It is supposed to rain tonight though. We have had the scare of our lives over the last 4 days with the earthquakes in my area. The last one was at 1:36 a.m. this morning. It shook things in my house. It was very scary.

I heard about the quakes from my brother in Michigan. Odd weather etc as of late to say the least. It poured like mad here Monday night. About killed my beans. They are drooping onto the ground. But I will wait and see how they do after todays weather. No biggie if they die off I'll just plant some more seeds. They grow quick enough. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I spent all day yesterday out working in the yard. It was so beautiful. I intend to spend today out there also. At least until the rain comes that is in the forecast. My tulips are beginning to bloom and my Crocus bulbs are blooming also. They are the prettiest shade of purple. My granddaughter and I planted some seeds yesterday. Don't know if they will come up or not but we had fun doing it together.

I was planning on being outside more today as well. but I didn't rise until almost 10 a.m. The wife didn't wake me up this morning before she left for work. Plus it's a tad chilly being only 53 right now and slightly overcast. But this afternoon it's supposed to get sunny and warm then I may be out there digging etc. I've thought of adding some tulips here as well but have yet to do so. I have tons of Lilies that are getting huge. They won't bloom till Late May early June usually. My oldest grandson seems to have taken a liking to gardening as well. He is 8 1/2 HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!`

I think I should have listened to the weather report closer though. We had a horrendous downpour with high winds tonight. The beans are lying flat on th ground now. Maybe with the warmth and sunshine tomorrow they'll perk up. Hopefully. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We were going to get some pansies for our shepards hook out front but had other things we needed more than flowers. But soon it'll be pansies and petunias on the hooks as well as flower boxes and vases all over my yard. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I like it when it rains right after planting the garden! Hubby and I usually put our garden in the first or second week of May.. the first weekend is trout fishing season's opening.. and we will sometimes go camping and trout fishing some streams and then the next weekend the garden goes in.. I was going to start some plants.. tomatoes, broccoli, etc.. but I never did, so I guess it's back to the nursery or shopko.. tho our granddaughter did bring home from school a cabbage plant in a dixie cup I've been watering.. so there's at least one a growing.. Happy gardening right back atcha! I.E, have fun! I know you will!

I haven't had a real vegetable garden for about 15 years, but my husband bought a rototiller last year, and he said he'd dig up a garden for me. I'm so excited, I can hardly wait to get started. If the ground is dry enough to dig, I'll have him do it this weekend. We've got heavy clay soil, so I'll have to find some good stuff to mix in to help loosen it up. A friend of ours started some plants for me, and I don't know what he has, but I'm planning on tomatoes, peppers, spinach, squash, and beans. Those things always do well in my garden, though the rabbits will try to eat the peppers. I have an herb garden that produces for most of the year, and I have parsley, sage, chives, and basil growing right now. Even when it snows, I can go out and cut some fresh herbs to throw in with whatever I'm cooking. I need to replant cilantro, rosemary, and oregano, and my herb garden will be pretty much filled.

hi Grandpa bob Oh my you should see the ground around my small patio.i think I have about every weed you could find in Southern California and a big plant that is either a tomato plant that has come up from some garbage that got strewn there by the neighborhood possum, or else its a marajuana plant which I really hope it isn't. Itsbeen so long since I have seen a real tomato plant I am not sure. butit is the healthiest lookingplantin the whole mess. I also have some low growing plants with blue blossoms that my mom used to calld Moses in the Boat so have not a clue as to the name of them but they were planted along the sidewalk edges here and have come up as voulunteers in my weed garden. I wish I could persuade my son to dig up the grass and weeds here so I could plant something worthwhile even if just a few tomato plants. He is so busy and I only have one really good arm to work with. we have a problem here with the garbage collector people. they gave this whole huge complex just five dumpsters and by mid week you cannot get even one plastic bag of garbage in the dumpster hence we have to leave our plastic bags of garbage onour patio for a day or two and the wandering possum just loves that.
