My husband and I both have a cell phone and we are getting my son one for his birthday in July. We still have our landline phone which we pay about $40 a month for 5 to 6 calls to come on that phone a month we are seriously thinking about cancelling the landline phone. So what do you think? Do you have just a landline, just cell phones or landline and cell phone?

Afternoon Luvstochat, I do have a cell but it is of the prepaid variety as I only turn it on when I am out and I am in need of it. So my land line is my primary phone, not to mention my DSL company as well. I could see if you are using your cell as a primary phone then you might not want to pay for the land line as well.

I don't use my landline as much so I ordered the limited outgoing calls. I don' even use that phone at all and I did not subscribe to long distance or other features. so my landline is about 15. We all have cell phones, but when my son ends up chatting too much with his friend, I ask his friends to call them on our landline. We get unlimited incoming calls so that way we save our minutes on our cell phones. So it works out well when we are short of minutes. Kids can talk forever these days.

Yes, I do still have a landline, but in my defense my cell phone is an emergency only phone. I only pay like $20 every three months for it, so I am happy, I mainly just have it in case something happens or I am running late, or lost or something. I don't use it for normal conversations. I also don't make a lot of long distance calls, I know that is a big benifit with cell phones.

I don't have a cell phone. Being a stay at home mom...I didn't need one. So, I do have a landphone. I will be getting my cell phone next month when I start work. But we will still have the landline....because I wouldn't use my cell phones unless it's really necessary...and the kids at home would need the landline to contact me or my husband.

when i moved into my own house 2 years ago i decided not to connect the landline up. The deal that I get with my mobile phone provider gives me more than enough credit to last me all month. I'd say it's cheaper to make all my calls from my mobile than to have a landline and mobile and use both.

Yeah me and my parents do have a cellphone but we do insist on keeping a landline as all old relations have the number. Also it helps when the mobile networks fail. Also these days landline come with a no. of other facilities like broadband internet, video phones etc.

Yes, we still do have a landline phone at home. It is necessary since my other relatives loves calling my grand dad and my aunt who doesn't have a cell phone.

I do still have mine. I keep it because all my son's doctors and some other important people have it and I also use it for my local calls.

Hubby and I have cell phones but also have a landline. If I could find reasonable way to get internet connection in my home w/o the landline, I would cancel it. As it is, I need it for my dsl connection.

I still have a landline phone, mainly for my dial-up access. That is about all we use it for. We use our cell phones for every call that we make. I don't even answer the landline phone when it rings.

I currently have both landline and a cell. I need a landline for internet connection. So until I can figure a way around it I will continue to have both of them. My youngest daughter still lives with me and don't have a cell, so this is her only source of a phone, so I will be keeping it for awhile at any rate.

I have both a land line and a cell and, most of my calls come to my cell. The hubby and I have thought about getting rid of, or downgrading, our land line but, we haven't done so yet. I pay for both of our cells and our land line. I pay $84 for the land line...which we hardly ever use. And, I pay $154 for our cell phones (combined, not each). It is really ridiculous to be paying for a land line which may ring once a day when the hubby calls to tell me he is on his way home from work. But, I do think we sort of need it as a security blanket. However, there may come a time when I downgrade it since we use is so seldom. $84 a month for something we rarely use is outlandish.
