Yes You can. You half to think positive and keep telling yourself, I can do it I will do it. That is what I will say to smokers, My sister quit smoking cigerettes and she had been smoking for yrs. so she finally quit I am glad she did. now she has gained so much weight, why is it that when you do quit smoking you gain weight it is a know fact, I quit maybe 30 yrs ago I have gained some weight I use to be skinny, but after I quit smoking I gained a lot of weight. Can some one answer that? I hope some of you Mylotters quit smoking. You can do it! Thanks (",)

I'll have to agree with you 100% on that lol. I think it has to do with the fact that once we quit we munch on other things to keep our minds, hands, and mouth busy. I know I'm hooked now on lollipops, eeeeeeeks!!! I'm a female Kojak hahaha. Still, I find I've gained some weight too after smoking, I'm still thin, but I'm no longer underweight. So, for me, I guess it worked out ok lol. True too that you can do anything you put your mind to, if you want to do something bad enough. What's that old saying? "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right" Just like anything else, once we convince ourselves we want to quit, it makes it much easier.

from what i understand, once you stop smoking you are able to really taste the foods that you eat, which makes you eat more. that is what my doctor told me and said you have to make sure that when you do stop smoking there are certain foods and drinks that you should stay away from. gum, coffee, any kind of mints, soda, and starchy foods.

Hi marciascott, I like the idea of being positive too. It makes for a better and happier life all around. Most people gain weight when they quit smoking because they tend to snack more. I quit smoking more then sixteen years ago. Blessings.

Yes, I believe that you can do anything that you put your mind to. Walt Disney once said that "If you can dream it, do it." Positive thinking is psychologically healthy. If you believe in yourself and convince yourself that you can achieve anything that you put your mind to, there is a big possibility that it will really happen. If you have read "The Secret", you will learn a lot about the law of attraction. The Secret is positive thinking and attracting the things that you want to happen in your life without thinking about what you do not want. I strongly recommend that book. Check it out and learn about the success stories of people who knows about the law of attraction and what it can do to change lives.

I just mention that earlier to someone here. I kept trying to think of the word go to the first page. The Law of Attration, I couldn't remember it, it was on the tip of my tongue, and I thought about it, and remmebered it. I will check the book out and see if they have it in the Library. The Secrets. Possitive Thinking. Ok Thanks, have a good day!

I think so too. I am very positive with this. As I always say, it's all in the mind. Our mind is very powerful. It's very encompassing. It's capacity is really worth everything a person can achieve in his life. Set you mind with your goals and start reaching it.

Yes, I believe in positive thinking. I am not smoking but maybe the reason why people gain weight after quitting is that they feel hungry more. It is also because you can taste food better so you enjoy eating.

Well you are so correct, that you have to be positive in everything you do in life. And smoking is one the hardest things to quit. I tried probably ten times to stop, and always went back to it. I did get cancer so that scared me enough to quit for good this time. But through all the treatments, being positive is one of things that helped me the most and just going day by day helped a lot too.

Hello,marciascott,.... Yes,you are right,if one has the determination in mind and has a positive thinking he/she can achieve great success in life.you could put this input in to your sister's mind and by her determination she could quit smoking, that's great.regarding obesity smoking has no relation.even the smokers are also suffering from this problem, not that you quit smoking and became obese.thanx,

Hi Marci...smoking takes away your taste buds so therefore you tend not to eat as much but when you stop smoking the taste buds come back and once again you find yourself eating-but also it can be another way of comfort as you havrn't had yhay ciggie....littleowl
