Unfounded fears

Everyone has fears...of failure, of death, you know, those BIG issues that plague everyone. I have one that still sticks with me: about 20 years ago, I watched Amityville Horror. The only thing I can honestly say I remember about the movie is 3:15 AM (that's when all the bad stuff would happen). I still get freaked out that something's going to happen to me if I'm awake (and looking at a clock)--in fact, I woke up to see my clock read 3:14 AM and I turned away and covered my head. So what strange fear(s) do you have?

For years even without ever watching "Pysco" i was skitish about shower curtians. constantly having to make sure noone was sneeking up on me. I was much better with doors rather than curtian. I wasn't any better after watching "Pysco" either. Or even sitting on the can with a drawn shower curtian. Curtian must be open when not in use.

Hitchcock was the master, wasn't he? The Birds always get me too (fortunately, the only ones that dive at me are seagulls, and I only see them near garbage or the shore), but the theme from Psycho...I can hear it now! Sends shivers down my spine! Thanks for sharing!

Gee, I go to the beach and the seagulls crap on me! Never on my head, usually my leg or towel--ICK! How ironic that you saw The Birds the same day!

Once while vacationing at sana monica beach my daughter and i were eating sanwiches on the beach. A seagul came and snached a sandwich out of my daughters hands. She saw the Birds too. and mentioned it that day.

I don't think I have any strange fears at this time. However, when i was a kid I read a story about a hand that reached out when someone was getting into bed and grabbed her by the ankle. They turned on the lights and no one was under the bed. After reading that I jumped into bed every night for years. I think I did that until i was quite old at least 16 or 17.

Believe it or not that movie had me scared of the middle of the night for a very long time as well. I don't like going to the dentist, I always feel like I can't breath. It is not the dentists fault he couldn't be nicer, but I just don't like my breathing restricted at all, and if I have to worry about choking if I take a big breath it freakes me out. I know it's weird.

Funny thing is that I don't really recall anything about the story, or the film itself, other than 3:15 AM. I guess I've buried it deep in my mind!
