I just realized I need to be better about asking that question. I do to my children when I pick them up from the bus. My mother always asked my father how his day was without him having to tell her first. So do you ask how your families day was every day? By the way.. how was your day today??

While doing the weeding and watering in the courtyard this morning I felt pleasant and energetic when seeing my vegetable plants growing vigorously in the little garden. But I felt very sad after watching the news about the earthquake happened in Sichuan Province China. It is sorrowful to learn that the building of a school of more than 800 pupils in it was collapsed and only a hundred or so of students were alive. The majority of the rest of the kids are still trapped beneath the collapsed building. I hope they are still alive and could be rescued from the severe condition underground very soon.

It's sad, but I rarely ask this question. My husband asks me constantly, and most of the time, I can't figure out how to answer him. Usually I will just say it was typical, which he knows means that I got stressed out from the kids.
When a friend asks, I'm not usually honest as I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. I mean, basically I take care of my kids all day. My toddler is into everything and whines over everything and that gets so old so quick. The baby screams like a banshee whenever he's tired and he won't quite down for hours. The five years olds seem to be deaf because no matter how many times I tell them to clean up their mess, they continue to play. And the 10 year old is deaf and dumb because his list of chores that's posted on the fridge and in his room don't get done until after the 10th time I've asked, even then they aren't done correctly, instead he's playing his video games or watching TV which I've already told him five times today alone that he can't do yet.
But hey, other than that, my day was just fine, how was yours?

Hi, TriciaW.
My day is good as for now. Just got into the office. Well, living in ASEAN country like me, seldom get this question from my parents. I know japanese did that, but not to malaysian.
But I think by asking this question will actually build a close relationship between you and the one you throw this question to. I just hope that I'll do so with my kids next time.
