We are all aware that there are a lot of problems all over the world. For you, what problem is it about the world do you worry most? Why? Do you think there is a solution to that or it will stay a problem until we grow old and the next generation thinks the solution for it? Let's talk about it. I think we can come up with something, since the pen or the computer is powerful now as a voice to suggest some solution to our world's problem. =) For me, it is poverty, illiteracy and terrorism.

My biggest concern is global fresh water supply followed by the food crisis. Both are exasperated by among other things pollution and mismanagement of global resources. Hunger and thirst will bring about political instability and suffering amongst the denizens of this globe of all species. The problem resists solutions.

The interesting thing about conserving is that it conserves money as well as resource, as usually resources cost money. So yes, I am certain that others are indeed conserving out there.

Global fresh water supply and food crisis. That's sad "the problem resists solutions". What do you think we should do? Thank you for responding. Take care =)

This is a very interesting question, and I must say that my response might be a bit strange. I know there are a lot of obvious answers to this question, like you put terrorism and poverty and also things like pollution etc. But what I am mostly worried about is the difference that the money and power makes. Not in the sense where it gives you power to run the world (like the US runs the UN etc) but also that it matters as much in certain times. The obvious example is Burma, with this terrible disaster there. Okay, in Sweden there has been coverage on TV and in the newspaper. But compare that to the tsunami in Thailand where many western people were killed, including Swedes. After the tsunami there were rallies to collect money, there was insane amount of media coverage, everyone was involved somehow or another. It is nowhere near this for the victims in Burma. Another very speaking example is the 9/11 attacks. Okay that was sad, I do not deny that, but there are thousands of children dying everyday in Africa due to poverty. How often are they covered in the news 24/7 for weeks and weeks? In comparison I think it is worse that we have thousands of casualties every day and a whole continent that suffers from poverty, but yet the attacks got so much more coverage and media because it happened in the US, closer to us. Now to my fear - which was the actual question; that the feeding of news from the media and the power of certain countries makes the less powerful and rich countries fall in the shadow, even though there are certainly many more and worse situations in those countries!

You are really giving the perfect example, with first hand experience. I could only call it the way I see it from the "sidelines" so to speak, since I am lucky that Sweden is a pretty low-key country when it comes to these things. But for you who sees this every day, it must be terrible to realize that there is a difference when there is terrorism in the US as compared to India. I'm ashamed of the media and the world leaders..

Thank you for finding my post very interesting. Wow! You worry a lot. You are definitely correct. Money and power. They always go together. By the way, there is another money collecting coverage close to my place, the China earthquake. Thank you fro responding. Take care =)

Aside from all of the "standard" answers such as poverty, world hunger and war etc (Just like the beauty pageant answers yes! lol) my biggest concern is probably sustainable development; economic, socio-economic and from a natural resource perspective. The population is growing so therefore so is consumption. Without sustainable development; the gap between the rich and the poor will continually widen. The further into the future we get, the more difficult it will be for people to get a start in life. And unfortunately it is not like hundreds of years ago where people existed to live off the land and survive to eat and be clothed etc; it is all too competitive and destructive overall. Poverty will consistently increase because natural resources will dwindle as industrial resources continue to expand to meet growing demand.

Well I must admit that this problem was a quite big issue here in my country since outsiders always look that many of those terrorist are residing here due to quite a lot of bombing happen in several years back. So yes terrorism is quite a big problem to the whole world too since their demand sometimes quite incomprehensible and just seems absurd. Peoples of the world are trying and gather them self trying to solved this problems but without earnest will I think it will be quite hard to get rid of this problem because there's so many reason my peoples tends to became or join a group of terrorists.

Hi there! That's a very good question. For me, it is illiteracy and poverty. My classmates and I just watched two nice Chinese movies which concerns the two issues and those movies really moved me. I hope that we can do something about it so that the present generations' situation will be better.

Illiteracy is being attended to now by the governments of diff not countries but not enough. Concern citizens need to lend a hand. Teaching people or being literate to do something is better way to lift poverty problems than just helping them by giving them what they needed.

Overpopulation is a problem to some countries and its really bad because its even making their economy down. Overpopulation is not a government's problem it's up to the people.

Hi there, Well for me my country is overly populated. Population and pollution is killing so many here in India. And terrorism is some thing which we cant get rid of. Actually its lack of love amongst people which is y the human race is suffering so much. Look in the places where there is no terrorism, they arent happy with their life. This places have high divorce rates and lots of family problems. So God made this world like we cannot have peace really! Well i want to tell people here that if they want eternal peace start doing Yoga. Cheers, Tutul

Over population, pollution, terrorism, suffering, high divorce rates, family problems and no peace. That's quiet a lot. Must have peace of mind. Start with ourselves. Yoga may help to relax and have peace. Take a deep breath. Thank you for responding. Take care =)

I really do worry about the human race destroying the planet that we live on. It's really a blessing that we live on such a fabulous planet and we should all be making and effort to curb our carbon foot-prints. I also really worry about world hunger. Living in the Western world has made me too comfortable with food - I sometimes forget how little so many people have.

People destroying planet earth and world hunger. But we are in the fast paced world. We can't help it, little by little unconsciously we destroy mother earth. World hunger, this really makes me cry. I love to eat but when talking about this, I feel so sorry that I have something to eat and others don't have. Thank you for responding. Take care =)

The problem in today's world that I am most worried about is the treatment of animals. This includes factory farms, circuses, zoos, and animal cruelty in regards to pets, as well. I don't know if it is the world's "biggest" problem, but that is what I am personally most worried about. I think that the idea that human's "own" and control other animals, as well as how little it seems people care about the treatment of animals (especially for food and entertainment) is sickening.

Cruelty to animals. This may not be considered to be in top 10 but it is still a world problem. You forgot to mention animals used for experiments for new products. Let's protect what we can. Thank you for responding. Take care =)

The world was here for billions of years before there were any worriers, worrying about it! So I don't worry about the World's Problems. In fact I never worry about anything, because I know that whatever the problem, it will work its self out in time. There has never been a world Problem that has been impossible to solve, or one which didn't work its self out in time. What I'm trying to day is,- Stop worrying and start having fun! If its not fun don't do it!

Hi, I worry about the rise of petrol price and terrorism. I hope the price of petrol can be controlled and will not rise higher and I hope terrorism can be curb. This world is getting more and more problematic, if we want to list all the worries, I think it is a lot other than the 2 problems I mentioned.

its global warming! i believe if all of us dont do something about it, whoever and wherever you are, all of us will suffer from it. the "earth hour" which started from australia is a very big move in support to solving this climate change. its either we support it or suffer from the consequences of our negligence.

I think the biggest problem in the world today and for the past 10 yrs and ONLY GETTING WORSE is hatred....There is SO MUCH hatred in society it just blows my mind...And I think that if more ppl would just knock it off and get a grasp it would maybe not SOLVE alot of todays issues but possible ease them enough so that we can get a handle on things and better the world we live in for ourselves and for the generations to come..

To me the most urgent problem is the depletion of natural resources. If the current consumerism idea continuous. There is sure the doom of human race ahead. To make things worse, People are not satisfied with what they already have. They want more, and more. We know the earth is not enough for our ever-increasing wants, arent we? Seems a simple and self-sufficient life isnt appriciated by the world at all.

I'm worried about a lot of things but what I'm most worried about is global warming, not only because it's getting worse but more so because if nothing is done to stop or slow it down, its escalation could mean the extinction of the woprld as we know it just like what happened to the dinosaurs and earlier occupants of the earth who became extinct as a result of changes in environment and weather. All the other problems such as poverty, food shortage or famine, nuclear threats etc pale in comparison to the threat that can be unleashed by unchecked global warming. Yes, there are a lot of things which everyone can do foremost of which is to cooperate and stop doing things that further damage the ozone layer. While a single individual's action might be small, when everyone pitches in and does his/her share, that could count a lot. So let's all do what we can to minimize the destruction of the ozone layer.
