Laughter is still the best medicine...

When children are around, laughter abounds. As we age, our sense of humor tends to dwindle among the problems of adulthood. If you find yourself rarely laughing at the inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies in your own life, this is an indicator you need a good dose of laughter. If you do not crack up regularly, you may end up doing so in a different, undesirable fashion. Health problems associated with stress are no joke. So, laugh heartily, and know that in doing so, you are seriously improving your emotional and physical well-being.

Children is a big factor in a house. They seem to balance the boredness at home. I am glad that I have one that is also making our home a home. He makes us laugh and sometimes it does irritates us but then overall they really give us happiness all in all.

I do agree! We do have lots of problems but Filipinos have a great sense of humor. I think that's one of the reasons why despite all the problems we are confronted with, we are still standing strong.

I do agree with you with the stressors of life we need to laugh and not take things so seriously. Because when we take things to seriously it will affect our health both physically and mentally. So laugh to keep the doctors away!

I agree with this... You will feel very fresh after a big laugh. I still remember there was once I accompany my boy friend to see doctor, that is an Indian doctor. He said he has reached retire age, but he looks young, like 40++ only. Then he told us, the most important is that we must always laugh, that's the best medicine.

I agree with you heartily. I laugh when I'm nervous, I cry when I'm happy. Well why not? I'm backword in every other way! I've never been one to be able to laugh at myself even as a child. I worked with a woman who could laugh at the most irritating situations. Her philosophy was crying doesn't change anything so you might as well laugh. At least laughing is good for you. She helped me to not take life so seriously. . .an I was in my 60's when I met her. My advise, don't wait til you're 60 to learn to laugh! LOL

This is so true!! Also it is good to be able to laugh at ourselves and to even laugh at life.. the many ironies, instead of becoming cynical or something.. As a person, if we are able to make others laugh, we have done a good thing then, yes?

"The most wasted day of all is that in which we have not laughed." Sebastian Roch Nicolas Chamfort. What a true statement ! I firmly believe that we must have a good sense of humour, be able to giggle at odd things and look at the humorous side of things. People without any sense of humour give the picture of being unhappy. Find below an article on the positive effect of laughter. Laughter is the "Best Medicine" for Your Heart Can a laugh every day keep the heart attack away? Maybe so. Laughter, along with an active sense of humor, may help protect you against a heart attack, according to a recent study by cardiologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. "The old saying that 'laughter is the best medicine,' definitely appears to be true when it comes to protecting your heart," says Michael Miller, M.D., director of the Center for Preventive Cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center and associate professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. "We don't know yet why laughing protects the heart, but we know that mental stress is associated with impairment of the endothelium, the protective barrier lining our blood vessels. This can cause a series of inflammatory reactions that lead to fat and cholesterol build-up in the coronary arteries and ultimately to a heart attack." "The ability to laugh -- either naturally or as learned behavior -- may have important implications in societies such as the U.S. where heart disease remains the number one killer," says Miller. "We know that exercising, not smoking and eating foods low in saturated fat will reduce the risk of heart disease. Perhaps regular, hearty laughter should be added to the list." Miller says it may be possible to incorporate laughter into our daily activities, just as we do with other heart-healthy activities, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. "We could perhaps read something humorous or watch a funny video and try to find ways to take ourselves less seriously," Miller says. "The recommendation for a healthy heart may one day be exercise, eat right and laugh a few times a day." http://www.umm.edu/features/laughter.htm

Totally agree. I love it when my son makes me laugh out of the blue or when my hubby pulls a funny joke or something when I'm in my not so good days - we laugh it off. Nothing beats laughter I say!

I do believe on that, laughter is the best medicine. But laughing endlessly is another story. I laugh on even simple things and I laugh loud on things that make people laugh. I am a happy person, on the other side, I am a lonely person also.

I believe that often laughter is in fact the greatest medicine, it sends 'feel good' hormones to our brains and therefore when you laugh you automatically start to have happier thoughts and in general feel better, also it adds to life!

Hello, Dolce_vita78! Yes, laughing is certainly one of the best things that exist. You can always laugh of your problems, and forget them. Problems shouldn't be the most important thing in your life. The most important thing should be to ENJOY what you are living, everyday. With or without problems, you must learn how to get over them and how to laugh. Laughing is certainly the best medicine, and perhaps this is why many people like children. Children are always laughing. You can give a piece of paper to a children, and you'll see him/her having a great time, with lots of laugh, by simply playing with a piece of paper. That's what we all should learn. It's funny to see how goes this proccess. We learn it when we are young. Then, the problems appears and we forget it. In order to be happy, we must learn it again! Hahaha, isn't that funny? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Absolutely, and with my two young ones there is always something funny being said or done in my house. It's good for your health and soul to have a good belly laugh. :)

i agree with this belief and supported by medicine. if you compare a person who always smile or laugh to a serious you will found a big difference. serious people look so old that a person who always laugh and have a sense of humor. i am a serious type before but when i learned that laughter is the best medicine and to prevent also from wrinkles, so since then i always laugh but not like a crazy. LOL

Learn to smile, learn to laugh. I think it is not only the best medicine for us to laugh, but also laughter is the basic emotion that we needed.

You have me laughing right now. It is always good to have some humor in your life; without a bit of humor life would be boring. Sometimes I laugh to myself when I think of certain things, especially if I think they were funny. Sometimes my kids and grand think am loosing it, so I say to them I have just thought of a good old joke.
