In UK where I live, we have a product called Marmite, and I just wondered how well known this product is? In UK when they advertise it they always say "you either love it, or hate it" and it is so true, it is just one of those things that you either like or not and there is no inbetween. I have a family of 6, and out of the 6 of us 4 of us love it, the other 2 cannot stand it. I love it with cheese on toast, toast, and jacket potatoes, but it actually has many uses and is really versatile in food. So I would like to know how many of you know what marmite is?How many of you love it or hate it?!!!What have you used marmite on before now?

Wow, Thanks that is alot of information. I think I'll pass on it though. I don't even know where you could buy it in the US. There is a store about an hour from here though called "The British Pantry" I bet you could get it there.

I'm the exception to the rule when it comes to Marmite, I don't hate it but I don't really buy it and use it a lot either. Though if it's the only thing to have on toast or I'm at someone else's house and they offer me it I will eat it. It's good for adding for flavour to stews especially if it's a vegetarian one as it makes it taste a bit meaty.

I have seen this product in some stores that offer specialty products. Never tried it though. What kind of flavor does it have?

I do not really know how to describe its flavour, it is savoury and just yummy, well to me anyway!!

I had no idea what it was. I have never heard of it before now. I had to look it up online to find out what you were even talking about. From what I just read about it though, it does not sound like something that I would like. But then again I thought that Miso(fermented soybeans) sounded gross until I used it to make soup once.

I love it in a sandwhich or on toast, shame my hubby doesn't feel the same although I guess in a way its good as I get to eat it all and not have to share! I live in the UK to and have grown up with it, the only downfall is its a bit expensive but never mind. happy eating!

I love Marmite. Especially with cheese spread in a sandwich or on toast. My 7 year old son would live on Marmite sandwiches if i let him he loves Marmite. So do my other three sons. But my partner and my daughter hate it they hate the smell of it as well.

I have the slighest idea as to what Marmite is. Now is it a fruit that is native to just the U.K.? Is this like a jelly spread as well in the photo? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Kiwi kids love marmite :) but I don't haha. I don't think my son has ever tasted it as he grew up in Samoa. They did have it there but we never bought any because none of us liked it. My twin sister loves it and so does her kids. Marmite with cheese on toast is one of their favorites.

Yes, I remember Marmite from the time I spent in England. My ex-husband who was British loved it on toast. I always disliked it greatly and don't miss it a bit. LOL. I won't tell you what that salty taste reminds me of. YUCK!

We have Marmite where I live in New Zealand, which is where Marmite originated I think. It is a standard spread for sandwiches, with cheese. By putting a teaspoon when cooking a stew, making gravy gives it a rich colour and taste. Kraft make something similar to it called Vegemite, Marmite is the stronger of the two

Interesting... Growing up in Canada I have never heard of this and had to follow the link to find out what it was.... Seriously, something tells me that I probably would not like it but I would be willing to try it though! :) ~Heavens~
