They are starting up an ethanol plant in the next town. One of the business guys said it won't help us any. They already have contracts to send it overseas!! What is up? I cannot see where that is going to help us at all. This is just crazy!!! What do you think? What is the purpose of this?

Ethanol is th biggest bust in energy ever and we need to get the word out. ethanol takes more energy to produce than it actually makes. Ethanol also pollutes the earth more because the trucks that deliver it run on diesel and the little bit of fumes the ethanol makes really make the problem worse. Butanol on the other hand is a little know fuel that my spell checker even doesnt recognize it. Butanol make way more energy than ethanol and burns far cleaner. the problem is that it is hard to refine but the scientists at sunoco are working on that. as well as all of the other advantages, butanol has a high yeild of fuel per bushel.

I hope that if Butanol is better, they get it figured out soon. I just can't see where it will benefit us to send thing to another country.

..they're very ugly and they stink.. sorry to be the bearer of such good news.. I also heard ethanol use, is more polluting.. I say drill below the icy tundra of Alaska to tap into some of our own vast oil deposits, while we develop more practical alternative fuels, without causing food shortage because farmers are growing fuel instead of crops..

Is that for real??? That's one of the stupidest things I've heard (and I've heard some really stupid things lately). First of all, ethanol is not the answer to the oil "crisis," and secondly, to use our prime farm land, thus driving up the cost of food as well, then ship it overseas... well, I've never been one for believing conspiracy theories, but I'm about to change my mind. What better way to bankrupt America?

I wonder why they would do such a thing. Usually when a business moves into an area, it's because they get good tax breaks. I guess businesses have found a way to have their cake and eat it too. They get cheaper labor by farming out the contracts overseas and get to save money on taxes. That is sad. I wish that local governments would make tax breaks for businesses contingent on hiring from the local community. That's what the incentives are supposed to do, attract big business and industry. It's not meant to attract cheaters who scam the system.

Gas is not going down; i thought that they had already started the ethanol plants but i see that they haven't. It's going over sea's cause it's cheaper to make and cheaper to hire people to work the plants. Still i don't think it will do any good gas will still be high and it will keep going up for a while. That will put a bind on everything that has 4 wheels.

That's just plain nuts! You would think they'd be doing it for our country, and not to help foreign affairs. You have to ask yourself, where is the loyalty to our own country and helping our own people?! If it was my town, I'd be sorely tempted to ask the news crew to do a tv segment on it so more people were aware of the truth of it. Personally, I find that a disgusting deed borne out of greed...they're probably getting paid a bundle to send it elsewhere.

Well it does provide jobs so why not? Eventually perhaps they will see it's cheaper to sell here in the U.S. and don't always believe what the other business and political people say about new business. I'd place bets on 75% of what you hear from them is based on opinion and NOT fact. Enjoy the job opportunities if nothing else!
