Which kitchen gadget would you not want to be without?

Is there something you use in your kitchen every day that you'd really not want to be without? Something you use everyday, or something which makes your life easier? Disregard the cooker of course, as I think we'd all agree that's a pretty handy gadget to have in a kitchen! I think my favourite kitchen gadget is my bread maker. I love being able to just fling the ingredients in then come back 3 hours later to a lovely fresh warm loaf.

There's only one I would never want to do without... my coffee pot! I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't have my coffee first thing in the morning and it would take forever to make it without the coffee pot!

Thinking about it, I guess the coffee pot might count as one of the most well used pieces of kit in this house!

hmm there isn't really anything i can't do without, gadget that is. the only thing i can't do without would be my knife. it allows me to cut thick or thin slices of food. or even cut fancy shapes out of vegetables. another gadget that i'd prefer not to be without is the fruit juicer. imagine freezing the water melon and having a ice cold water melon juice on these hot days. that's just heaven and really helps make me feel cool. i don't have a bread maker but after reading about how you do it, i'm tempted to get one.

I personally find a juicer too much trouble to clean to be useful, but I can't argue about a good knife. Good knives make you life so much easier when cooking.

My blender - I start the day with a banana smoothie and couldn't do without it. The smoothie is cheap to make, nutritious and filling, and of course I also use the blender for soup, milkshakes, batters, cocktails (maybe oking about the last one!)

Having a smoothie each day fro breakfast is terribly healthy. I'm impressed! I guess it counteracts all those cocktails later on in hte day

I'd have to say it's my microwave! I use it more than anything else in the kitchen and it's so convenient. Also saves a lot of electricity!

I too have a bread maker but i really dont get on with it lol, it just doesnt seem to make nice bread for me im not sure why pmsl! the gadget i could not live without is my garlic press not because i use it every day, but when i do need garlic i hate to have to peel and chop it and i can never get it small enough anyways, so i would have to say that 1 for me. :) Best wishes Lucy x visit my website http://forgetmenotmemorialcards.co.uk/

A garlic press for me would be one of those things that would sit in a drawer & never be used! If you cut the ends off the clove, then squash it under the flat of the knife blade the skin comes off no problem.

When I'm having a soup making frenzy I really appreciate my blender. I don't tend to use it for much else though. Perhaps the occassional smoothie for the kids, but that's about it.

Well I think life with out a can opener would be pretty difficult. I actually really like my crock pot and my hand mixer, I use them both really often. I don't know which one I would choose between those 2 things.

I still cook the conventional way, I think the one I always want to be with is my sharp knife. I like cutting, chopping and mincing in a rapid succession/rate. Me and my father are the one's in-charge in cooking, I am the one left right now since my father works overseas and has been away for more than six months now.

Well, I'm taking coffee pot out of the equation here even though it is the most used gadet in my kitchen. Next in line would have to be my mini food processor. I use it every day. it is barely bigger than a coffee cup and makes life in the kitchen a breeze.

I'd have to say mixer because it sure is hard to beat egg whites into a meringue by hand.

Oh Wow, you always make my mouth water with your food discussions...:) "Lovely fresh warm loaf"!!! Well, lets have a look at my kitchen. Not many gadgets there, I am afraid except for the blender and the fridge. The fridge had conked for two days once, and I almost went crazy. I store a lot of food there, and well.. honestly, I can't imagine life without the fridge. Even if the blender goes on strike, I can manage somehow, but not without the refrigerator. Cheers and happy mylotting!

It's a toss up between my coffee pot and slow cooker! I think I would let them fight it out. I have got to have that caffeine kick in the morning or else my day is ruined. My crock pot is so good to me. I just throw some ingredients in it in the morning and it serves me with a warm, cooked meal in the evening. I have never had a bad meal out of that thing.

I have two that I would not want to be without (well lots of them really but if I could only pick two...). One is my breadmaker like you except I use mine on the dough cycle then form my loaves, rolls or whatever myself let them rise again and bake them in the oven. The other is my griddle. We cook on the electric griddle a lot!! Breakfast, lunch or dinner it gets used most every day.
