When shopping, did you accidentally left your money at home?

I know this awful thing has happened to us many times, but how did you feel. The merchandise gets all ringed up, only to find that there is no money to pay for all of this. Especially, if it is a lot that is ringed up..

I've done this twice recently. I actually did it yesterday! I had taken my wallet out of my purse to pay our cable bill online (I needed our bank card). I left my wallet sitting on the couch when I went up to the grocery store! Luckily, it's only a few minutes from my house so I got right back up there to pay for my things. And, I only had a couple of things I was buying. Even more embarassing.... my daughter had gotten ahold of my wallet and was pulling everything out. I put everything back into my wallet and headed up to the bank. I get to the bank and I'm missing my bank card! I live on a military base and you have to show your ID to get back on. I went to pul out my ID... and it was missing!! I had to talk the gate guard into letting me on to go get my things. Turns out, she had stuffed them down the side of the couch! I was so embarassed!

I don't use cash, but I do use a debit card that I had accidentally left at home one day. I had a full basket of groceries and when the cashier was done ringing everything up I opened up my wallet to see that I didn't have my card on me. I was so embarrassed. I told the cashier what happened. She was understanding and let me know they would get someone to would put the things back. As I was driving towards home I remembered that I had my checkbook on me and that I could write a check for the groceries. Duh! As I don't write checks very often I forgot all about it. So I turned around and headed back to the store (yep, the same one). I shopped all over again and when I got to the cashier, which happened to be the same woman, she told me the other basket of groceries was still waiting for me. Oh my! So I was doubly embarrassed that day. As I didn't need both sets of groceries I took the newer basket of groceries as they hadn't been sitting as long as the first one.

i haven't experience that situation yet. because every time i left the house to buy for something like groceries, i always make sure that i have my wallet and money with me. because it won't be easy to be trapped in such situation. and my house is far from the grocery store, i don't want to waste my time and effort to go back and forth from the house just get what i left.

hmm that's a very interesting situation to be in. i've not yet been in this kind of situation though i've seen someone getting caught. i guess i'm a cautious person by nature. i'd check that i have my wallet when i leave home. i'd check again before i even step into the store. it also helps that a lot of places here accepts credit cards. i'd never leave home without a credit card on me. it's very useful in emergencies so i always have one with me. cheers.

I rarely get in this situation. I have a good memory so I rarely forget something. I think you should have a habit to bring your wallet with you when you out of your house.

Hi cream97! I have forgotten my money several times but I always get to notice that I am not bringing any money when I am still in the car. So i usually go back and get it. I think if that will happen to me, like the merchandise gets all ringed up and find out that there is no money..Gosh, that will be so embarrassing. I would of course apologize but what can I do except to go back home. Take Care and God Bless! Celebrate Life!

I have done things like that. i have left my wallet in my car or at home and have had no money to pay. I forgot Aldis doesn't take checks and had no money to pay. One time there I had to go to the ATM and go back again.

cream that happened to me too, and I felt so stupid. I had laid my billfold on my dresser while getting dressed along with some coupons I wanted to use.Iwalked right out got into our pickup and wentshopping. then when I went to pay for them no billfold. so myhusband had to drive back to our house, pick up my billfold, and coupons and come back.needless to say I felt totally humiliated.

This has never happened to me . There were times I had to check my purse and make sure I had my wallet with me though. Sometimes , if I have much food I will worry I will go over and have to put back . Most times I will use a self check out.

Yes, I have done this a few times. I will take my wallet out of my purse to pay a bill on line or something, then forget to put it back in my purse. When I go to check-out no wallet, of course my checkbook is also in my wallet, so that will also be gone. This is very embarrising.

This happens to me all the time. Once I went through the check-out and realized I didn't have my wallet but I was so sure I grabbed it on the way out the door. Well I had actually grabbed my wallet and placed it on top of the car to get some stuff into the car and left it there. When driving back home I saw a young girl going after something on the road a street over from mine and it was my wallet. We pulled over the car and yelled that it was my wallet. It was hilarous but I was only 11 years old at the time and obvisously very unaware of things. Lol.

That has happened to me once. I had changed bags and forgot to take my cash out of the wallet and put it in the wallet that went with the new bag. Decided to stop at the store, after picking up a few items and having them rung up came to realize that the cash i needed was in the wallet of the other bag. I made my excuses to the cashier who was very nice and excited to the mumbles of the people behind me. I was so embarassed, and i had to laugh at myself on the way home.Needless to say that i always make sure that when i change my bags i make sure everything that i need is put into that bag.

Elsewhere here I mentioned that once in a while I'll forget my wallet. I usually only find out about it at the moment that everything has been rung up and the cashier tells me the grand total. That's the point when I go to my handbag for my wallet. Once a very nice cashier suggested looking in the car because maybe it had fallen out. Sorry to say that it wasn't the case. What really sucks is that you have to go around the store putting all your stuff back when all you really want to do is just get out of there really, really fast!

It happened once for me when I went to a bookshop. Luckily, it was quite near my house.
