Yahoo, AIM, Msn, or iCQ?

Just curious what everyones favorite messenger was. Does anyone even use AIM anymore ? I ask because it seems anytime I mention AIM, people start telling me how horrible it is. My personal favorite is Yahoo. What is your favorite messenger and why?

I prefer Yahoo messenger. I've never tried iCQ so I couldn't say whether that's good or bad. I tried using MSN but it never worked on our computer when we tried to use it. I had AIM for a bit but got rid of it because there was only one other person I knew who used it and I only ever messaged her twice in all the time I had AIM so that was just pointless. And I wasn't really impressed with it because it was slow and there seemed to be lots of bits to it which didn't do anything.

I agree ! AIM has always been the slowest messenger for. Seems that many people have dropped AIM altogether and opted for Yahoo or Msn. Can't say I blame them after the stories I have been hearing.

I still use AIM. I like YIM, but it is a resource hog because it has so many features. I'm an old-hand though, and back when messengers first came out (AIM was among the very first), everyone used AIM, so I will keep it no matter what. You really never know who will pop up when!

Now that is true. There could be someone you haven't chatted to since 1999 and they may decide to pop in on aim and see if you are still there ! Good point!

Similar Q's have to get the same respones, here is mine: Yahoo, sometimes, but I'd rather use Yahoo Vioce than key in a conversation. If you have a mike and hearphones or speakers, then try it, its like having a telephone conversation, PC to PC.

Yes, I love that feature. Msn has the feature too with video conference included. However, I still prefer Yahoo.

I tried ICQ about 6 months ago, and I just didn't like it all. Plus none of my friends were on there either.

My favorite is MSN Messenger, simply because it has the best interface and it's the most simple one to use. I've been using it for some 8 years or so now. I've tried ICQ in the past, but unfortunetly it seems most people have abandoned that instant messenger. It wasn't so bad actually. I've tried AIM once but I have to agree that it is pretty poor when compared to others. I've never tried that Yahoo Messenger though.

I've had all of them at one time or another. Each has its own positive use. Icq and aol got corrupted somehow. Now I use Yahoo. It's okay.

Yeah, I think aim is just horrible. No matter how hard they try, their product STILL is the slowest messenger out there.

I am a big fan of MSN messenger. I switch over to it last year after using Yahoo for a few years. At first I wasn't impressed but all of my friends were moving there so I followed. Since they updated to the live messenger it has gotten so much better. I love all of the new features. I never have any problems with it so that is a plus.

I didn't even know 5.5 could still be used! Sometimes I miss the old Yahoo versions. They didn't take up as much space, and loaded much faster.

After years of using online chat, I mostly use Yahoo Messenger now. I still have AIM, MSN, and ICQ, but I use them far less often than Yahoo! I like it bcause it is easy to load, many of my friends use it, and because it keeps an archive.
