when you go into a store do you go to the check out lines with the cashiers or the self check where you check out your own items??? I go to the cashiers. its their job after all. and it makes it easier on me especially when I have a lot of items, and my kids are with me.

It depends on how crowded the stores are and how many people are in cashier lanes compared to self check out lanes. Then, if I have some coupons or something, I tend to go to the cahsier. That way if the coupon doesn't want to work or something, they can figure it out better and try to get it to work. However I usually go to cashier lanes more often than self check out lanes. Sometimes those are just too crowded because people hate waiting in line and I can't blame them.

I usually don't have any kids with me and the lines for the self service registers are usually shorter or empty so I usually use one of those. I'm getting pretty good at it too!

I love the self checkout. Most times there is no one in line and I can just wizz right thru no hoping I got a good cashier no waiting for that one who cant find her money. Its nice but I will avoid it if I have alot of items.

When the lines are full the self check is the fastest way out but sometimes they have a line of people too. That makes you think that they will try to eliminate cashiers with these self checks. Makes you think that it's a test that they are working on to see how well those self checks work. That would be something. I know in some places they don't have then and that is good. But in the future you will know for sure that they will be having those self checks instead of cashiers.

When me and fiance go to a store like Wal Mart we almost always go through the self checkout lines, because they are a lot easier and more convenient then dealing with a cashier.

I usually do the self-checkout if it's available. I don't have kids, so I don't have to worry about them while checking out, but I see your point with going to the cashier. There aren't many places that have the self checkout around here yet, I'm hoping the wal-mart here will get a few, but I doubt it. I will go through the self checkout in the grocery store with a full cart, but only if there aren't a whole lot of people in the store. I hate dealing with the cashiers with a ton of coupons, it just makes it so much easier to do myself. I know I bought all the correct stuff without the cashier going and digging through all the bags to make sure the coupon qualifies. I can't wait until the put them in in the Wal-mart Supercenter, so I can get things cheaper and not have to deal with the cashiers.

There are times when I go through the self checkout at the stores. Mainly when I am in a hurry and only have a few items. I think it helps me get out of the store faster than waiting in the lines. Sometimes it's hard to get the items to scan sometimes.

I really like the self checkout lines and use them whenever I can and when they're not busy. If I have a coupon or some special item, I will go to a cashier. But, I think the self checkout is a good idea for certain purchases. There is usually a cashier looking over the self-checkouts in case there's a problem, so I've never had any trouble.

It depends on the store, my mood, and sometimes even where I parked. For example when I go to the Wal-Mart that is closest to me, I normally go to a cashier in the garden area as I parked nearest there. Though I have used the self checkout at that Wal-Mart in the past. At another Wal-Mart I go to there are no self checkouts so I have no choice but to go to a cashier. Then there is one that I rarely go to, but when I do I usually use the self checkout as there are a few on both ends of the store and it is usually faster for me to checkout my own items. Now as for grocery stores, it depends on the store itself. One store I go to just put in self checkout machines, but they kind of suck as each bag of groceries has to be on the scale and cannot be removed until after the items are paid for. However it's not bad for those that only have a few items to buy. I did make the mistake of going to it when I had a full basket and I had to stack my bags on top of each other for the machine to continue working. At another grocery store I go to I almost always go to the self checkout, unless it is closed for the night. I can remove the bags and put them back in my basket if the scale gets too full to hold more. This was my favorite store to go to, that is until they got rid of the milk I would buy from there. Even when either or both of my kids are with me I may use the self checkout. That doesn't stop me from using it. LOL

I have tried using the self checkout before, in theroy it would be quite resourceful and cheaper for te store to have them. The times I have tried using them they malfunction or freeze up and I have to get someone to help me out, it is very frustrating and time consuming.

I go to the cashiers. I figure that if everyone started going to self checkouts the cashiers would be out of a job and I'd rather not be a contributing factor. I also figure that If the price comes up as something different than was marked I have a better chance of finding out why.

I only use the self checkouts if I just have a few items and the other lines are long. Normally I don't like to use them, especially at Walmart, because something I have doesn't scan right and it takes forever for someone to come and fix it. I would have been better off waiting in the long line in that case.

It really depends on the store. Usually, if I am going to a craft store or a home improvement store, I will go to the cashiers . Now.. when I am at a place like Walmart, they always seem to be low on cashiers and the lines are always too long .... so i use the self checkout. Now If you have kids, I can see why you would use the cashiers. It would be a serious hassle otherwise.

I usually go for self-checkout. It's especially a time saver when there are lines of people waiting to pay at a cashier. Unless I have a ton of stuff, I'm at the self-checkout. It's really easy and if you ever encounter any problems, there's usually someone there to help!

I first experienced self checkouts on a recent trip to the US,and the technology is now available to Me in a couple of places locally..2 of them are 24 hour shopping (except weekends),and I like being able to go in after work and do some shopping when it's a bit quieter..Strangely,one of the places closes down it's self checkouts at night! I like them, except when I can't get the blimmin thing to read a Barcode and the supervisor has to come over to clear it!

I prefer to do the self checkout if I only have a few items. I find that most people don't know how to use them so the lines are always shorter in those checkouts. Plus, the grocery store on base here requires that you tip your baggers. So, if I only have a few items or no cash I run through the self checkout instead.

I love the self checkout! If the store has one I always go through that one instead of having to deal with a cashier. I am good at scanning and I think I scan just as quickly as the cashiers do. The lines are way shorter too. I only go to the cashier if I am going to be buying a gift card or I need to write a check. Otherwise it is self-checkout for me every time.

I always loved the sefl checkout lanes. It is much faster for me to check myself out. Half the time the checkers scan each item really SLOWLY and bag the stuff horribly. My Walmart no longer has the self checkouts though I am really disappointed.

I go to the self check out. It seems so much quicker (as long as I don't have coupons or bottle return slips, that makes it go slower). I also tend to not have cash and only want to purchase something small for a couple dollars, so I use my Check Card. I feel a little embarassed going through a lane and making the cashier do it when I have to take all the time to use the check card for only a couple bucks.

I like using the self check out becuase the lines are a whole lot shorter. Although if you do have alot of item s and your kids are with you I would just wait in the line and have the cashiers do it. The self check out are usually reserved for people with very few items. I see all the time a women with 2 carts full of items standing in the self checkout and all the people behind her have an ugly look on thier faces.
