Here' s the skinny on some cool soap

United States
June 21, 2008 7:56am CST
Hi y'all! I got the coolest thing in the mail yesterday. It was a box full of the most wonderful soaps. Yes, I said soaps. I love bath products, and when I find a soap that not only doesn't dry out my skin, but actually softens it, makes it feel silky, when even the next morning, it still feels silky, then I've just gotta talk about it. So that's why I'm here today, darlins, to tell you about my latest treasure. And you know what? I got it from one of our own. Now, I don't want to mention any names or anything, cuz I don't want any deletions on this one, but if you think real hard, you might be able to figure this one out. Anyway, I ordered several different kinds, as she has many, many to offer, but so far, my favorite is a goats milk sugar soap and oh my, it's just so lovely! And the look of it! I just love it. But the coolest thing is this: the maker of this soap learned it from her grandmother and has been around the soapmaking all her life, so she knows it, she really knows it, and she's taken this wonderful art and updated it, modernized it, made it something that you could see in the finest shops, selling only top quality products, you know what I mean, like Body Works and places like that. She's put so much time and love in her work, and trust me, you can feel it, the moment you stroke it over your skin. PM me if you want a link. Or just go where you know she is and check it out. I've never seen more reasonable pricing either. I love the idea of supporting our members here, and we all do, in many ways, but here's yet another for you all to try. You won't be sorry. I'm certainly not. I don't see myself buying any other soap from any other place, ever again.

I am a huge handmade soap fan. It leaves the skin feeling nice and soft and has a great lather .The best thing is soap like this last and last. I have used goats milk soap and used to buy a whole lot on ebay .It is fun picking out all the diffrent soaps and scent .Many years back I used to make rebatch soap and sell .I always wanted to start that up again and even try from scratch .You never know I just might ! have a good one.

It's good stuff, Angel, you're gonna love it. She's working right now on some olive oil stuff too and I've asked her to save me a couple of bars. That and the pure goat's milk au naturale too that she's working on. Mmmm, I love nice soap, stuff that softens instead of dries your skin. I'm so glad you saw this and that now you're going to check out the Skinny Soap. You'll be glad you did.

That soap sounds exciting. The only soap that I have that I like is a mositurizing face soap that I got from Ukrops grocery. it is really nice and does not dry out your face. I am using body wash right now becasue it does not seem to dry out my skin as much as soap.

Nova!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Your too much! I'm very picky about my soap and I love that it shows. Thanks so much for this post. You really made my day. :)I'm so happy that you like it. I have to go with you on the goat milk, it's kinda like dessert with no calories. I have sugar cookie sitting right now curing. That scent is ridiculous. But remember- NEVER eat soap! LOL Thanks so much again my dear one. I really do appreciate the kind words more than you know. OMG, I just realized we are showering together! :)

I can help you out there. I would recommend leaving it unscented for use on your face, but the Shea Glycerin is very moisturizing. I can cure a hunk of goat milk au natural as well, but that one will take a couple of weeks. I have some Olive Oil curing too but that is about 3 weeks from being done. The Shea I can do right away. The nice thing about that one is that it doubles as shaving soap because the lather is so rich. It also takes makeup off beautifully. That is ultra mositurizing but will not cause break outs. That is what I use on my face. Hope that helped/

ROFL, Skinny, wow, is your shower big enough? I think we'd both fit in my tub. It's got a shower in it. Rub a dub dub!!!! You're most welcome, darling. I love my soap! That goats milk stuff just makes me swoon. And wait till Robin gets hers, will she ever be excited! This is good stuff, Skinny, truly it is. And I so see and feel the love that you put in it. I wanted to tell everyone about it - to let them know that it's a quality product and that it's more than worth the nominal price you charge. I want the other Lotters out there to be made aware of its existence. And I think it's a very cool thing to support our friends here, if they have a business, or a store. It's our community. I'm all for supporting our local communities and this is ours. And you're the sweet lil skinny flower ballerina gal, and you're most highly regarded in some circles so I'm told. So, it's only right, after all. But, hmmm, edible soap. Now that's a thought...... (no, nova, it's not really a strawberry, put it down now!)

I have visions of you here Nova of bathing like Cleopatra in a bath of goats milk rather than the soap you desribed it so well and the feel of your skin after use. My bath time is always pamper time for me, I wonder if available in UK? Ellie :D

She could ship it to the UK, Ellie, certainly, why not? And it's really such wonderful stuff, I really do love it. But me bathing like Cleopatra, giggle, giggle, what a picture!! Go to this link: leansoapqueen.etsy.com and take a look at what she's got. You're gonna love it!

sounds really interesting. I can use anything that will help my dry skin. My legs and belly stays so dry it isn't even funny. I use baby oil and lotions and it helps for about an hour and then I am dry again. How expensive is each bar of soap? If it isn't to expensive I might be interested.
• United States
21 Jun 08
It's not too expensive at all, in my opinion. She's got bars that start at $1.00 and the most expensive one I saw was around $3.00, I think. And it's really the lovliest soap too, travibabiesgirl. I love the stuff. I'm sure you will too. Her website is leansoapqueen.etsy.com. Check it out. And let me know how it went!

I didn't sign to the site to order. Hmmm, I wonder why it made you do that.......

21 Jun 08
Yeah you signed up hun...You have too to order. But it's free and all. You do this so you can leave feedback and such. It's kind of like signing up for Ebay or any other shopping site. Hey, Travis, I sent you the info as well. It's pretty long. I think if you have dry skin and you are using commercial products, it's not a good thing. Whether you get my soap or someone elses handmade creation, I think for your skin- it would do a world of good. It might be chemicals doing this that badly. I would definitely get some handmade soap from somewhere and try it. You might be surprised to see what it can do when you leave chemicals off of your skin.

Ah, the secret's long been out now, momma - it's our own darling Skinnychick! She's a wonder. And her soaps are so very lovely. Not only reasonably priced, but of exceptional quality. She's been doing this her entire life, taught by her beloved grandmother. So it's more than just soap - it's history and it's an abiding love that goes beyond the limits of our corporeal bodies. You understand that kind of love, this I know.

It does sound delightful. I've heard goats milk is great for blemishes and psoriasis. I'm suffering from psoriasis at the moment as I do when winter rolls round. MY face has several red flaky, itchy blotches on it and my scalp is like it's full of fine sand or ash. There is someone in Australia who makes and sells goats milk soap but it's really expensive. Oh well. Thanks for sharing your joy.

MsTickle, check out Skinny's site at leansoapqueen.etsy.com. Her prices are way more than reasonable - she charges like she does because she simply loves to make her soap. It's a labor of love for her, truly. And one or two bars at a time wouldn't be so horribly expensive to ship, I don't think. Check it out - talk with her about it and see what you can work out. She's an amazing person.

You'll have to send me the name because I'm clueless! I thought you'd be allowed to post brand names and web links unless it was a direct shill for your own products. I wanted to add that you should check out a company called Villainess. Their products are stunning. Some of the scent descriptions alone are enough to make me salivate! The one I'm really into at the moment is called Tahitian Moon. I can't afford to go on vacation this year, but scrubbing up with this soap is the next best thing!

Hi Phaedra, thanks so much for asking! I don't really know about the rules on posting brand names or web links but here's what you need: leansoapqueen.etsy.com That's her website. Her products are really lovely, Phaedra, and each and every single one of them is hand done, from the cauldron to the molds to the cutting and wrapping. And it's really wonderful soap too, I love it. Plus, I'm just really into doing business with my mylot friends where possible. We all give each other so much love and support and this is just one more way to do that. Go check out the site, see what you think, and I'll bet you'll be placing an order.... I will check out Villainess too, thanks. Your description sounds amazing! Take care, darlin, and most of all, have fun!!!!! See you out there!

I was thinking the same thing, Scoop. She's quite lovely. But the name Phaedra! I love it! And it suits her too, I think. She's lovely and sensual and sweet, but don't hurt anyone she loves. That's what I get out of it all.

HI, mummymo!!! And welcome home, my love! The maker of this fine and lovely soap is our own darling Skinnychick! You can go to her site at leansoapqueen.etsy.com and check out her stuff. Honestly, mum, it's really the nicest soap - I absolutely love mine and I gave some to my best friend Robin the other day and she's crazy about it. And Skinny is very accomodating too, she'll make what you want to have. I don't know how well acquainted you two are, but you will love her as much as I do, I promise. She's special - and you'll see it. So go check it out and see what you think. She makes new stuff all the time too, so she's always updating her product list. I'm glad you're home, sweetie. And I so loved talking with you that morning! What a way to start my day! So, um, how many White Russians did you indulge in that day, hmmmm??????? XXXXXX

I know this soap queen of which you speak. That dang skinny little chick in her pink dress. I'm waiting for her to come up with kumquat scented soap...then I will just have to purchase a bar but since you have given her such rave reviews I will have to take a gander at her products. Oil of Olay just isn't doing it's job as of late. Thanks for the tip.

Hi, darling girl! Happy dances happening here at the sight of you! Lemme tell ya, her soap is really nice stuff. The smell!!! OMG, you'd think you had a strawberry in your hand. Or a vanilla shake. Or a rose. Or, well, I could go on and on, trust me. And my skin feels wonderful, Cyn, so soft, and still, after sleeping and everything. I fully recommend the skinny one's soaps. That's kinda why I put this out there. I don't know that everyone knows about it and I think they should. So take a gander. She's gonna come up with kumquat, just you wait.

Oh my, thank goodness we don't have to be skinny to use skinny soap!!!! I think we just have to be dirty. Very dirty, downright nasty actually. Ooops, sorry, got a bit carried away there, p1key. So you use her soap? Wow, that's great!!! So use more! I know you're as sweet as sugar, but we can all use some sweet smelling stuff, and you are known for liking your creams and bath stuff. I love my soap from her! And I want to help her sell more and more and more of the stuff. She's the greatest person, and I just love her more and more as I get to know her. There's something special there, p1ke, in Skinnychick, something really good and pure and rich with love. I see it in her, I feel it from her. And I'm not often wrong about those things. I wasn't wrong about you.........

I'm really intrigued now. Can you upload a photo of the soap or even the packaging? I've tried goats milk soap before and though it felt nice on my skin, it didn't smell that great. Furthermore, the one I tried doesn't have sugar in it. Your post has really got me guessing I want to know about the brand NOW! I'm not a big soap person. I spend more time browsing shampoo and lotions but soap is something I like as well.
