Pocket Change

As airline passengers go through the screening process at the airport their excess change must be tossed in a bin. Many passengers forget to get their change and move forward to board the plane. Over the past 3 years the amount collected from LAX alone is over $90,000. TSA keeps the change and is used for more security. That would be about $676.00 per myLot member, figuring the member base is about 133,000. What would you do with the extra cash if the TSA offered the amount just from LAX to myLot administration and it was shared among the members?

Having seen Michael Moore's "Sicko",I was wondering could some of this change be donated to the Invalided 9/11 Personnel cut off from their workplace healthcare insurance as they were VOLUNTEERS on that day,(ie.not on Company Time, and declared void),instead?

With $1 and $2 coins here in Australia, I'm telling you now I don't forget to get my coins from the container after going through customers, actually I watch the officials like a hawk making sure they don't try a shifty on me....need that change while waiting for the plane for some Krispy Kremes Donuts or a Pizza Sub from Subway :)

That is a lot of change and it makes me wonder, how much of that change don't make it to the piggy bank. If it was given to us on mylot I would probably put it towards bills or put it aside for a rainy day. What would you do with your share of the money?

This amount was just from LAX airport. I would save the money. I am a big saver. I would also buy some baby clothing, etc. for our grandbaby which will be born the first of November. Thanks for responding.

Wow! That's alot of bucks! I would love to get a return from them. I suppose there is nothing they can do to return it to the passengers though...what a bummer! LOL

Maybe beefing up security is not a bad idea. We could do alot of craft shopping with that amount of money. Would be fun to hang out at Walmart or Michael's and buy all kinds of news things. Thanks for responding.

If I was given $676, I would put it back into a savings account that will be used to aid moving, and to pay for the house or apartment in the first few unstable months. Knowing me, I will probably take enough of it out to buy some sort of video game, or to go to the theater and see a movie with a friend.

That's a lot of pocket change. :-) I can't imagine me forgetting my change. I save it in jars - put there each night. What would I do with an extra $676 today? Easy. I'd use it for a trip up to northern Michigan to see my mom. I haven't seen her for about 18 months now and it's killing me. But I don't have the money for a flight or for gas.
