What is your vision of the next 50 years? I think that holographic teleportation is the future. Voice activated Internet commands instead of keyboards is on my wish list. Personal air cars, water and fire proved houses. Am I dreaming?

In addition to your list, personal air vehicles (as in your other discussion) might be a lot more efficient, meaning no more need for transcontinental airlines - just hop into the car & go & visit the other MyLotters we wanted to drop by on. I'm also pretty sure that crude oil would also be obsolete, & perhaps even ways to clean up the environment instead of stopping some of those things that is destroying it & just letting nature take care of that on its own time. We'd also both be in our nineties.

I believe them when we start thinking about the future and especially for 50 years out, it is hard to imagine exactly what we'll see. The "Jetsons" is a prime example of someone's vision of what the future may look like. Although a cartoon, there are things that 30 years ago were just a dream such as conference calling in the house (JETSOOOON!!!!), etc.... The other is from "Get Smart" (Now in Theatres...). The 'phone shoe' was a gag but now how many of us have roaches in our ears and carry portable phones in our pockets. I don't believe the browser as we know it will be around in the next 10 years much less 50. I think that we will still be using fossil fuels but not oil... probably coal although in much smaller quantities etc.... EVERYTHING will be voice-activated. Anyone who has fooled around with Microsoft Vista Speech (type SPEECH in the search bar) will know how far we have already come with that. Air cars... don't know about that but we will be getting around faster and a lot more efficiently.... What about outer space? Great question for me to ponder as I go to bed. Thanks Zelo

Faster browsers? I like it already. I have T1 and I wish to have something much faster.... All speech activated is ideal...

I don't even think we will have browsers/computers at all. It is starting to happen with 'smart phones' and it will just continue where you will not have to sit in front of a big box to get access to the internet. The internet will be more of a cloud (cloud computing) than the way that it is now... Interesting to see what is going to happen. Thanks Zelo

I see voice activated computers, homes that are hermetically sealed with ante chambers so no dirt or germs get in. Food will no longer be produced in the fields. Only very limited quantities will be grown under strict conditions by scientists...this is meat, fish and fruit and veg. Our meals will come prepackaged in controlled portions and be in a manufactured cake form. There will be no obesity and very little illness. There will be no wasted water or electricity as we will have a daily allowance. Couples will be genetically tested before they have permission to breed. There's more but I can't think it all through. Think Isaac Asimov...

When I think of how far technology has progressed in the last 10 - 20 years. Things are changing so quickly. Some people think we are dreaming but there was a time when people laughed at the thought of man landing on the moon.

I'm all for the air cars (they always seem so close to reality, but not quite)! If you have Windows Vista, you can train your computer to respond to your voice. I think in the next 50 years somebody will rediscover the things that Tesla (the man, not the band ) discovered, and we'll be using the Earth itself as a power source. I also think that antigravity devices will be invented. But I'm a bit of a dreamer myself.

Tesla was a genius. His discovery was very good and very bad at the same time. Depends on how we are able to apply it in our life. Antigravity is what UFO is probably using, but no one is 100% sure about...

Of course you are dreaming! That is were tomorrows realities come from! We have to have 'dreams' it gives us a reason to move forward. Every new technology begins as no more than someones dream! So keep dreaming and maybe you will come up with the next 'great idea'!

I really have no idea, but suspect it will advacne quicker than the last 50 which is scary, At my age I won't be too concerned as I'm slowing down and can't keep up with today's technology.

I have computer related business and it is hard for me to keep up. As long as you know how to use Internet, you are fine.... We will see easier and easier technology for all people.

AH my friend, the way I see things lately the more appropriate question would be" Are we going to be here in 50 years? " LOL Nah... I'm being too pessimistic heheheh Ok let me think.... SUre I'm with you in the voice commands not only for internet but for a lot of other things as well. Personal air cars already exist, but will they actually end up being practical or not I'm not sure. I think we will see many advancements in medicine but not necessarily the most important ones. Certainly in the areas or regeneration or artificial parts as well as all the stuff that makes money like aesthetic surgery and stuff. Alternative fuels might have a more important rule but they will be way too expensive. People might keep going to the suburbs for safety and because of better housing prices and big cities will continue to become busier, dirtier and less safe.Maybe.... I bet that those clothes with chips installed that can change color or have it's own "air conditioner" weaved into the fabric will become a fashionable item. Houses will keep being more automated for sure. But I don't know about water and fire proof - it seems that it might not be too profitable... you see then people wouldn't go around buying insurance that is pricey and makes money LOL It would be nice though. I think I"m on a pessimistic mood right now, I'm sure there will be lots of positive things.. but then again lots of negative ones too LOL

Next 50 years? Gas prices will go up, and people will go back to walking. Electricity prices will go up and people will toss their laptops into the attic. No one will be able to afford cooking gas, so everybody will start using firewood or solar energy. As for jobs, everybody will be so tired of working 27 hours a day to meet impossible deadlines that they will prefer sitting at home and having sweet potatoes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and walk about naked to save on clothes..ha ha ha ... you wait and see.. this is just a glimpse.. Life is gonna be very interesting after 50 years.

wow, your imagination is so cool.I want to have a air car,and travel to the other planets in outer space.however,I don't want water proved houses, and I want houses made of cold water or ice which I can live in,when it's hot in the summer.and i want a cellpone with which I can talk with my friends watching their face, just as they standing in front of me!hope these wishes can become true in the future.

I think earth would be in a big mess after 50 years if we continue this sort of pollutions and emissions. Due to global warming sea level will rise considerably and most of the low lying cities would be under water... This will force the human to move towards the upper areas and will in turn increase the density over there.. Our aim should be to preserve earth rather than changing it.
