Since I learned to read, back in the days of the dinosaurs, I've spent more time reading books than doing anything else. Since I discovered myLot, I spend hours at a time on the computer! At least this is vacation time. When school reopens and I have so much to do, how will I handle it? How do you manage your time so beloved reading isn't lost in the shuffle?

I always allow time for reading every day, but usually I don't find the time during the day, except for at weekends, so it always has to be in the evening after I have finished all my daily tasks and after I have spent some my time at myLot. I never use my computer late in the evening and that is my time for reading. I don't have a television so I can always find an hour or more for my book reading.

I used to watch TV fwangaa but I stopped watching. I don't have time for it now and I don't miss it. I prefer reading, listening to the radio and using the internet.

That happened to me too because back then on the summer vacation, the only things I did, expect the daily activities of a regular person, is to surf the net (which also is an activity of a regular person) reading fanfictions, play video games, listen to music, watch DVD's, animes, movies, and the TV, write stories, draw and read fanfictions on the net. But most of the time, almost 1/2 of my day is spent on reading fanfictions on the net. I really haven't thought of what I'm going to do when school starts, but when school started, I managed to cope up not using the internet THAT often. You will probably be used to it, someday...

When you go somewhere where you know you have to wait a long time, such as the DMV or the doctor's office, pack a pocket book in your purse so you aren't just tapping your fingers.

I miss out on my sleep, falling asleep at the computer or while reading. No matter the path, old age wins everytime. (:

I think I first should make a plan of reading, and then I read my favorite books. Because the book do brings me much pleasure.

I find the same thing happens to me. I used to spend just about all of my leisure time reading and now the computer really cuts into that time. Between things like MyLot and other interest boards as well as PC games such as Sims 2, I spend a lot less time reading than I used to. It makes me wonder whether this is one of the reasons that fewer children love to read now than years ago -- all of these electronic activities cut into their reading time. What worries me about that is my belief that none of these other activities are really a great substitute for reading and that children will not develop the love of reading to carry into their adult lives.

That's a really good point. Maybe we myLotters could develop a reading game to make kids want to read, so they'd do better in school and life!

Well, I've spent too much time on the computer and neglected reading .So now, I'd do my reading in bed, read until I fall asleep.

Good idea. I'll try scheduling sleep a little earlier so there's some reading time. Thanks.
