When Mylot Deletes Discussions

United States

Often, discussions are started (and responded to) that end up (for whatever reason) being deleted. This means, any ratings or money the started and respondents might have received is deducted. I wish mylot would have a place onour earnings page that would show us what and how much was deducted and/or deleted along with specific reasons why the discussions and responses were deleted. It would certainly help all of us to better understand and might show us the error of our ways in an attempt not to break the guidelines again. So, mylot, what do you think? Would you consider telling us the reasons why our discussions or responses were deleted? And - mylotions - do you agree that mylot should give us specific reasons why they delete discussions and responses along with the amount deducted?

Hey terilee, Yes that would be a really great idea. There is a lot of controversy going on about this very thing right now in other discussions. People are beginning to be afraid to express their feelings for fear of being reprimanded and losing reputation and money. This is not a good thing. If people start feeling this way they are not going to want to stay on this site. Mylot needs to start listening to what their users are saying to them. We shouldn't have to be afraid to speak up for fear of being punished.

I guess baileycows is right, this is impossible for mylot admin to always remind us of what should be posted or shouldn't be posted. Let us be very careful in our posting so we don't have to worry. Besides, the guidelines is always here for us to review it. KEEP SMILING = NEIL

There have been instances when the guidelines don't answer the reasons. For example....if you happen to answer a discussion and the discussion is deleted without you knowing, your income is deducted. If you aren't aware of that particular discussion being deleted, you might wonder why your earnings were lower one day than they were the day before. An explaination wouldn't be all that hard to do. With the knowledge mylot has and the ability to implement autoresponders, when deductions are made, the program could automatically send messages that your earnings have dropped due to a discussion being deleted, instead of leaving us hanging wondering what the heck happened. The same goes with deleteing discussions. If a discussion is deleted because of policy or breaking guidelines, another autoresponder message could easily be sent to notify the person that their discussion was deleted due to not following guidelines. It would not cause mylot more work.

Like the post above, I doubt they will, but it would be nice if they would give us the courtesy.......It's not like we mess up on purpose.......Sometimes, it's an honest mistake.

See, that's what I'm talking about Lady........telling us to 'review the guidelines' doesn't always answer why our discussions were deleted or why our earnings went down.

Well i will like to tell the mylot staff to add this reasons to thier help page,so that we will not be disturbing ourselves about this anyone. This will cause some people to go. So this will be bad if it happen.

Hi Terilee, this is a terrific idea! I'm scratching my hair out, wondering why in the world they deleted a discussion of mine - very mild topic about reaching my 500 posts. It would be good (and educational) to know where we might gone wrong or broken any rules. I wonder whether they would adopt this idea of yours - it's really good for all of us.

It's just good business......It's not rocket science. If it keeps members, they should look at it - or - they can be like every other site and not give a hoot.....

right on, terilee! I hope mylot admin will do this. It will sure help the frustration many mylotions feel when their discussions get deleted without any apparent reason!

That would certainly be nice. It wouldn't have to be a lengthy explanation, either. Just a few simple words. That would definitely be helpful. How can we learn if we don't quite understand?

Well while it would be nice. I doubt it is going to happen. That would make for a lot of extra work for them.

I'm really not concerned about how much extra work it might make for them. When you run a successful business online, it's to their benefit to take the extra steps to keep their customers happy and satisfied. I doubt they will do it either, but it would be nice if we could see why they delete and deduct instead of leaving us wondering.

I dont think the "innocent" parties in situations like that should be held responsible for that. I think the "person" who violated mylots rules should be the one who pays the price.. not everyone who responded. i may not know what im talking about but because i havent read "everything" about mylot but i have learned quite a bit. but yes when they do that they should let you know.

yes that would be a great idea. is there any way to contact the powers that be? also, i dont understand how this happens. when i try to post something thats not allowed it warns me to edit my post. ?

yes i think also that be good idea.. Because that always annoys me with anything.. you know when you fill application say to join a bank and you get refused but never give you a reason why the application was unsuccessful.. Always annoying to not understand the why.. Something i am unsure of.. if you make discussion and someone post to it a referral link which is a no no by mylot rules, the discussions can be deleted am i understanding correctly.. so of no fault of the discussion creator, that person looses all earnings etc for that discussion? Which seem unfair as we personally dont have control over what others respond with So this also means that if discussion is deleted it may not be the fault of the creator I am only guessing on the above because i have seen a mylotter very angry because someone had posted a referral link to her discussion

i'm new here in mylot and i haven't started many discussions yet. but i do have one question: it is OK to delete topics that are repetitive but how am i to know that it is almost the same as someone else's topics. And i am supposed to search all the topics before i post a new one, it is downright painful.

terilee great idea.but mylots probaly not gonna do that for us so how about we all just reread the guide lines and hope our discussions dont get deleted

Sure, the reason would be helpful so people know exactly what they did that violated the guidelines. I have never had a discussion deleted that I am aware of because I don't keep track of my rating. If it were to drop significantly I would probably notice, but a few points here or there and I am none the wiser. Even if I did notice my rating drop, I doubt I would know which discussion it was because I can't remember all that I respond to. I would have to go back through and look at them all, but I just don't have the time or patience for that.

terilee79720 hi oh yes I think it would be just great if they would explain why and which discussiong had been deleted so we could learn what they really dislike as I have read the rules but dont always see what is wrong with the ones that were deleted. that would be very helful if mylot would tell us.

Would be great! but that would be a lot of extra work for myLot considering how many discussions are on the site and how many new users and the site is still growing.. Besides, there's a list of T&C and TOS that they expect people to follow and if the discussion is deleted, it's probably anyone of those reasons. See your point clearly but that would be one heck of an automative system I have noticed however that they no longer delete the whole discussion when a comment/ response in it has a referral link so this is great!
