Is a dishwasher really more convenient?

I have never really owned a dishwasher. I really don't feel the need for one. I find that it is easier just to do my dishes in the sink and be done with it. How many of you ladies have a dishwasher or want one, and do you think it is easier?

i myself dont have one..but like the thought of having it..and amazed how it can make our life easier on washing dishes..and be able to minimize the time alloted in comparison with washing it conventionally..

Im not convinced its any more convenient,I had one and yes i used to use it,but for a start I didnt like the bottom of the machine, when there used to be a build up of `bits` from the washing up,and you have to partially rinse the dishes of first, and then the cycle takes ages!!so..by the time ive put the water in my bowl in the sink, and washed the dishes by hand, and then dried them in the drainer,im sure its a far quicker process!!

We have one, but don't use it. It isn't really all that convenient. In fact, most dishwashers don't do a good job and in order to have clean dishes you have to wash them and then put them in the dishwasher. I always hated doing this and therefore just ignore the dishwasher (or if we have a lot of dishes to do we use the dishwasher as a place to let the dishes dry). It is cheaper to use the sink as well and not run the dishwasher since it is expensive to use all that electricity.

Yes it never seemed to be all that convenient. I don't feel like I am missing out on anything by not having one. I save time by just washing by hand. Sometimes the old fashioned way just works better.

I don't and never have owned a dishwasher - I find it actually makes me feel dirtier when I go to my friedns and all there dirty dishes are piling up and up until they have enough to justify doing a wash in it! I can be done in no time doing it by hand!! x

You are so right and I have experienced almost the same thing you have. When I see all of the dishes piled up in a person's sink it seems that I could have done it by hand and avoided the whole time of stacking it all one by one into the dishwasher.

well im not a lady but i do think having a dishwasher is easier but if you are single and dont have a lot of dish dont get it dishwashers normally are used for alot of dishes that a family will use up so they dont build up in the sink..now if you have a family and are getting by without one WOW u must love to do dishes also dishwashers are used for people who dont have time to do the dishes

I did have a dish washer at one time but I got feed up with how long it took to load and unload. It is much quicker to wash up as you go. I would not bother to get another one.

I do have a dishwasher in my home but I don't use it as much as I used to. When my children were all living at home I used it all the time. Now it's just my hubby and we dont get that many dishes so I just wash them by hand. But if I get a bunch of company I use my dishwasher. My dishwasher does a great job in cleaning my dishes.

I think dishwashers are life savers. You don't have to stand at the sink and wash dishes all the time. I can actually do other things while the dishes are washing, so I'm saving time and accomplishing tasks while I'm washing dishes. Plus, if I don't have anything to do, I can just take a break by watching tv or something while the dishes are washing. I see it as a win-win situation. I don't want to go back to not having a dishwasher.

we are thinking of getting a dihwasher, but i'm not 100% convinced yet. I think it would be good to put the dirty dishes away in so they are not messing the kitchen up but i'm not sure if they clean your pots very well.

I lived without a dishwasher for a really long time. Now that I have one, I don't know if I would want to not have one. There are many times when it is just easier to wash the dishes myself.

I have lived on both sides of this train track. When me and my husband first got married we didn't have a dishwasher. There were 5 people living in the house. I was right out miserable always doing dishes. I thought one day I'll have myself a dishwasher. I think I prayed every night for God to deliver a dishwasher to me. Anyhow time went on and the extra people moved out. Then we had our second child. I had a dishwasher then. I didn't like to use it LOL!! I would just rather wash the dishes and get it over with rather than scrub them once, put them in the dishwasher, wait for them to get washed and then put them away. That seemed to take longer than not having a dishwasher in the first place. Now they are nice when you have like Christmas dinner or something but just for a few cups or bottles..... I'll take the brush. One thing I do most don't is scrub my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I don't trust dishwashers to get all the germs off. I know that dish is cleaned when I scrubbed it LOL!!!
