When you travel abroad what kind of souvenirs do you get for yourself and your friends and relatives? Do you look for the specialty of the place or just grab anything that would remind you of the experiences had in that place? I have not traveled abroad yet but whenever I have gone to some place in India I have made it a point to get whatever is unique to that place as a souvenir. of course only if the budget permits. What about you?

reminds me of my boyfriend. whenever he goes to places, he usually takes home some stones and we make it into something decorative at home. really a good idea. costs nothing but means a lot!

I don't really pick out souvenirs to take home. I buy a lot of local food from the grocery or supermarket though. I don't believe in wasting my money on souvenirs. it's a little weird anyway when I give a Wiakiki Beach shirt to someone who hasn't been to Waikiki anyway, isn't it?

Since 1990 I have collected costume dolls from around the world and when I visit a country I always see if I cab buy one. If they are especially nice and reasonably priced I buy two. However if they are expensive I just get one. On my latest trip I found a lovely hand made costume doll in a market place. I sometimes buy fridge magnets if they are really lovely. I like to buy a t-shirt for my mum. I see what other suitable gifts there are for me to bring back for other people. I like to buy postcards for my collection and I also keep some currency for my foreign money collection. I have a three dollar note and a triangular coin from the Cook Islands. Shopping for souvenirs is so enjoyable when I am overseas.

i usually try to get something that reminds me of the character of the place. I try toget things that I hope are not sold anywhere but the place I'm at. That's the way you can really remember that you have been to a place. I like to do this. I think that I can pick out good souvenirs when I travel.

the only constant souvenir i get from a trip or vacation are pictures and snapshots. my dad always reminds me to bring him back keychains, which i often forget (really sorry dad). i sometimes collect stickers from hotels we've been, as well as receipts. though i only collect receipts which reflect huge amounts (of course). next month, my sister and i will be headed to US and canada, and hopefully, i we won't forget our dad's keychain. our goal is to collect as many keychains as we can showing the names of different states.

I usually bring home dolls / figures in attired in their traditional clothes and lots of key chains (which I also collect) for my family and friends. I used to buy T-shirts with name of the countries or places I've been to but I stopped doing that. I also would buy their local delicacy so that people back home can have a taste of that place. Local crafts also are my usual loot.

I do bring back souvenirs from countries that I visited for my colleagues in my office and also for friends. When I visited Bangkok, Thailand, I brought back very beautiful Thai silk items, shirts, blouses, table cloths, and so on. Very nice and beautiful.

Hi, we usually try to get souvenirs from each country for our family and friends. We would buy things that are easy to carry, but bearing some identity / names of the country, like keychains, tshirts, caps, bags or anything that is unique to that country.

it depends on the country that i will visit. whatever they have i will buy it as long as the price is right. most of the souvenirs that i buy are key chains and house display. small things that i can carry easily.

Before, i used to say, "how i wish i could receive souvenirs from abroad". I'm happy if i happen to receive something from afar. Now, it has been realized and receiving souvenirs from time to time. I feel excited and treasured it a lot!

I have a hand painted egg from the Cheque republic. It's beautiful! Dark blue, with white designs.

not been out of the country a lot. but been to singapore when i was 16 years old. i mostly bought t-shirts and keychains which says "singapore" in it. i gave them to my family and friends and i kept some, too. i am actually from the philippines and now living in sweden. next year, my boyfriend and i will go home to my native country and visit my family and meet my old friends. i might try and find something which are not so huge but with "sweden" in it. can be writing pads, keychains or pens. not sure though yet.

Well, where ever I am I usually try to get something that indicates some type of culture (ie chinatown, get a chinese banner) or something that says the name of the place I'm visiting on it, like shot glasses, tshirts. But back to shot glasses, my sisters' goal is to get EVERY single Hard Rock Cafe shot glass from every known store, so I usually look for that when I'm traveling.
