Going canoeing tomorrow if the weather permits. Have you ever gone canoeing?

I go once a year with a friend. We have tried for two or three times a year, but that hasn't happened yet. We're just lucky to get one time in. It has rained almost every day this year, so wish us luck. So have you ever gone canoeing? We've done ponds, small lake, swamp in a really, really dry year. Ponds are my favorite, Bear Pond and Moose Pond are great. They have some nice places. If I was younger, I would like the carries, but my arthritis and only canoeing once a year, not a good idea. Take care

When I was in girl scouts and I went to camp, I did a couple of summers of canoeing. I would've prefered crafting, but they didn't have a special unit for that

Oh, we had crafting, but I would've happily crafted all day. Maybe I'd take a break for archery... we didn't have horseback riding - tho they have since added it at the camp. I rather surprised the teacher in my college archery class at how well I strung and shot a bow.

That's cool. I surprised myself when I found out I can shoot left-handed when for years I couldn't hit anything right-handed. Found out by accident. Take care and thanks.

Our camp had both. I was a counselor and had to learn how to canoe. We canoed mornings and crafted in the afternoons. Take care

Hope you enjoyed your canoeing trip. Am responding to your discussion several days after your scheduled trip. Hope the weather was good. I've never been canoeing. It's not something my husband would enjoy doing and now I have a messed up back. Would be afraid any bumps along the way would really throw my back into a tizzy and do nothing but cause pain. I do love the outdoors and water.

On a day when the water is calm, there are no bumps. You're floating and gliding. On a day where there are waves, you ride the waves up and down. Bumps come on motor boats cutting through waves. Reason why I can't ride in my brother's motor boat very often or for very long. I find riding in a canoe easier on my back than riding in a car or walking. Row boats are even better because of the broader base. Not sure about Kayaks, haven't been in one yet. Want to try that next. The guy who goes with me canoeing, he has a bad back and I'm coming back from a car accident from Aug. 10, 2008. Still love peddle boats. Not sure if that position would go well with my lower back. They're expensive and can't go as many places as Kayaks and canoes, but they are one heck of a workout. If I had my own pond, supper-large one, I would canoe or Kayak one day and then peddle the other. Upper and lower body workouts alternating. I think sailing is really, really cool. Was a passenger once, really like floating amoung the clouds, but I was a passenger, I think if I was running one and had to keep track of everything, it would be a pain. Take are and thank you very much for your response.

It sounds like a good time to me. I used to canoe alot and living in Alaska gave us plenty of wonderful lakes and ponds to view the wild life. I hope that the weather is good for you and even if it rains, have fun!

The rain we have been having lately has been coming down in sheets and accompanied by thunder and lightening. If it was just sprinkling or light drizzle, that would be fine, but not the stuff this year. I went to Alaska on a cruise through the inside passage, went to the islands along it and Juno was our last stop and our only mainland tour. Beautiful up there. I hear one airport had an animal run going through it. Take care and thanks for responding.

I have never gone canoeing but have always wanted to. Stuff has always gotten in the way, such as health and financial problems. I do hope to do it someday. Good luck with going canoeing when it's not raining! I know how frustrating rain can be when you want to do outdoor stuff.

I hope you get to go canoeing some day. My friend owns the canoe, so I only have to come up with the lifejacket. Last year, I had a car accident, the week after my canoeing, otherwise, health would have gotten in my way, too. I hope it doesn't rain like it has been, it's included thunder and lightening.

I don't think I've ever gone canoeing, but boy, it sure sounds fun. Hope your day for canoeing turns out really well. My husband and I have thought about renting kayaks to see if we can do it and if we enjoy it. That's probably about as close to canoeing as I'm gonna get.
