Sounds heavenly! I should do something like that. For now, store bought dressing is forbidden in our house, cause it's loaded with salt. Can't have salt for health reasons. I will try the recipe for dressing and let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the suggestion. Would be nice to have salads again.

Dear friend, I used to help in salad dressing and sometimes when I do that it would be a big mess so just give a helping hand to my sister while any guest in house comes for dinner we all together do the salad dress and my sister is much expert in that I just love watching her creations.

I have made vinegarette before several times. I really prefer creamy dressings though.

My older sister once made a type of mayo using flax seed oil and I am certain she has her own recipes for salad dressing. In my house, we tend to enjoy creamy ranch style dressings and I think those are more tricky to make than vinaigrette.

Ranch dressing is really easy to make. You just use half mayonnaise and half plain yogurt or sour cream, then add spices to suit yourself. I did buy some ranch dressing though, because I found some name brand at 2/$1.00 at the salvage store here. I can't make it for that. I've made vinegar and oil with Italian spices before. That's pretty simple, too, but it has to set a few days to get the flavors mixed.

We always bought bottle dressing but then when we started reading labels we noticed almost all of them have sugar and/or corn syrup in them so now we always splash on our own oil, vinegar and seasonings. I'm not a fan of vinegar (my husband is) so I use oil, garlic salt, pepper and italian seasoning.

I have not made any for a while. I have made mayonnaise, and I have made a copycat Miracle Whip, but other than put lemon juice and sugar or oil and vinegar with some herbs, I have not made any salad dressing. I really should. I find that buying salad dressings is getting rather costly. I have to learn how to make ranch dressing because that is my husband's favorite and Italian dressing because it is mine, but I have to get up some nerve to do it.

I also like to make my own dressing for my vegetable salad and one of my favorite is olive oil, balsamic vinegar but I do not like to have sugar in it instead of using sugar I always replace it with black pepper.......
