how can Windows be the most virus affected Operating system, In 13 years of using Windows I got one virus. and I had that cleaned up within a day with an Antivirus boot disk. Now I have a good anti-virus program which takes care of my Virus protection needs. Now because Windows is more user friendly than Linux it is the most attacked operating system for Viruses The best solution to keep your system virus free is to run a good Anti-Virus program on your computer and keep the virus dat files up to date. the new dat files depending on the program come out almost daily but at least once a week.

You will not be affected with virus on your computer if you will not browse through virus infested sites.

One problem is Windows is by far the most common OS, which is why it has more viruses. Less frequently used systems have less viruses.

That's right. Virus writers want to infect as many computers as possible. So they write viruses for Windows since most computer users use Windows. It's not a problem with the OS. It is a problem of popularity.

There was a fairly recent series of Mac adverts featuring Mac and PC. In one of them, Mac gives the impression that Macs don't get viruses because there hadn't been the 100,000 or so that there were for PCs that year. Pretty misleading really.

If you want to get rid of viruses in windows try to buy licensed version of Kaspersky Internet Security. It may cost you $15-25, but it will remove so many headache from your PC. Whatever expert you may be in computing, it is very hard to keep away from viruses without having a good antivirus.

Windows is like a Nest for the growing up the viruses.Linux based OS are good in that sense.

I think it is not the problem with the windows.LInux wont allow exe to run automatically compare to windows. Most viruses are exe programs which can attack windows very quickly and easily.

Hi mhrmasum! unfortunatley viruses, spyware etc is going to be an increasing problem. the only way to feel even remotely secure is to have latest antivirus, anti-spyware, and utilities. You could try swithing to different versions of Linux, or get rid of the PC and get a Mac (which rarely get viruses)

Linux has gotten a lot more user friendly. Try installing Ubuntu. You may like using it.

A good idea would be to dual-boot. You can install Windows and Linux on the same machine. What I did was to install windows and then install linux on a separate partition. With this, if ever my windows partition was to get infected with a virus and my anti-virus couldn't get rid of it, I would boot up my linux and then access my windows files and delete the infected files.
