I have no idea how my parents came up with my name. As far as I can tell it was random. Are you named after anyone?

Hi happythoughts, my dad loves flowers whereas my mom favorites the color of red. So I have the name of the combination of flower and color. My dad chose the flower which usually will bloom in the winter season. We always can see these flowers blooming in white and red color in the snowy days. My mom loves me so much of course she picked the red one as my name posting and have a nice day.

No, not that I am aware of. And looking back on my family tree there has never been anyone with my name. Which makes it unique, even if it is plain and basic at the same time.

There has to be something said for being unique. We tried to find a unique name for my son but it is hard to figure out. I wanted to name him Thor but we ended up naming him Jeremy.

I am named after my grandmother, Eva. My middle name is Marie, for Mary. I am catholic and back in the day (not sure if they still do this), but usually a Catholic child's middle name was taken from a saint. I used to totally hate my name as a kid. I thought it was weird and no one else had a name like mine. Now, as an adult, I have come to appreicate that it's not something you hear every day and I am honored to be named after my grandmother, who passed away 8 years ago.

My friend was telling me about how she got to pick her own middle name when she was older. She thought it was neat to pick a saints name for herself.

I so wish I was named after someone the I got my name was because it ryhmed with my siblings names. When I first learned that I was shocked and to make it even more mean kids at school say that name doesn even fit my character they all end in the say thin: "you look more like a vanessa" that is so wrong on so many levels lol.

I thought about naming my son after his dad and my husband but my hubby thought that he should have his own name. I think it is great to pass on family names.

Well, my first name isn't really. From what I have been told, a friend of my parents suggested my first name and they really liked it. But they decided that my middle name would be their friend's name, as she suggested my first name. So, technically, my first name isn't, but my second name is, to a certain extent.

I know that I wasnt named after anyone although my name is different. My name is September Ann. My middle name though did come from my mom's middle name. The reason I got the name I did is because my mom had gotten pregnant at 17 and my grandma was upset but she said the only way she could forgive my mom is if the baby was a girl, she would get to name her and guesse what I was a girl...lol But I love my name it is a special name that is so different from everyone else's name.

Well My name was going to be off a soap opera, but my father named me, so it's what he thought of as a first name, with my mother's middle name as my middle name.

How cute. My dad picked my nickname and I went as Bucky for years. I never understood it though. Bucky seems more like a boys name to me.

I think not. But I've named my daughters after someone. My daughter Maris was named after a pretty actress here in the Philippines whose name is Mariz. She's the wife of an action star whose name is Ronnie Ricketts. When I was pregnant, Mariz is very visible on TV and I found her so pretty and modest, prim and proper, so I decided to name my daughter from her. My youngest daughter got her name also from a teen actress whose name is Mariel. I also find her pretty and plus she got an initial M that's one of my qualifications.

We named my son after a motocross star we admired. It seems weird but it worked for our family and it suits our son very well. When we named our daughter we tried to find something strong and peaceful.

My cousin and I have the same name too, but I think it was a random thing and not a choice made by our families. I wish my name ment more to me but atleast I am an individual.
