The Second Presidential Debate provided an interesting contrast of styles between Obama and McCain. While McCain seemed to approach it by saying "I have been there, done that, and will do it as a president...", Obama's approach seemed to "A new leadership style at Washington is required to change the existing systems and revive the economy" Both seemed to agree that Energy is the key and alternate energy has to be pushed forward... But both of them have a lot of fundamental differences in the approach to it... I thought Obama held a slight edge over McCain in the debate... What is your opinion? Cheers! Ram

I believe that Obama "won" the debate. Obama remained calm and collected throughout the entire debate. McCain wandered around and seemed to get a bit frustrated at times.

Yes, I too felt that Obama remained calm. Some people feel McCain's technique was to take the attention of viewers from Obama's answers to see his wandering about. Cheers! Ram

I found this debate boring compared to the other one. I think Obama did much better than McCain. I really liked Obama's answer on the Health care question. I believes it is a RIGHT. Which i think all americans should feel that way. I have a few problems with McCain like when he called Obama "that one" and when he talked down to one of the men asking a qestions. Telling him he didnt know who fanni mae and freddy mac are. I think that was poor taste. I think one thing that McCain did that was a good was move around in his hair a lot. It would pull people away from listening to Obama and make them watch what he was doing.

I myself liked it when Obama said that Healthcare is right in response to McCain's Healthcare is a responsibility line. Cheers! Ram

I thought Obama won hands down but I'm admittedly not totally objective. I thought McCain came off as an old grouch who wasn't sure what he was doing. He was once again disrespectful towards Obama, this time referring to him as "That one", which I thought was disgraceful especially considering some complained following the last Presidential that Obama had had the nerve to call McCain by his first name instead of "Senator" McCain! To sum it up without making this a long, drawn-out and repetitious post, I'll say Obama simply looked and acted Presidential and McCain did not. Annie

"That One" statement might cost McCain a lot more than many more statements he has made it seems :) Cheers! Ram

Just about every poll (except Fox, of course) determined that Obama was the clear-cut winner, and I agree.

Yes, most of the polls do reckon that Obama was the clear-cut winner. CNN actually rated Obama B+ and McCain B in the debate. Cheers! Ram

I think Obama did a much better job of instilling confidence in the American people than McCain did. I watched the debate on CNN and they had a line chart at the bottom of the screen showing real time reactions to each candidate by a group of undecided voters. It clearly showed a more positive response by these voters to what Obama was saying. Both McCain's, and to a more limited extent Obama's, attacks definitely showed a drop in opinion so, in my opinion, positive speak gets a more positive response while attacks receive negative ones.

I was myself watching it on CNN, but could not really figure out how that graph worked. Every instant there seemed to be too much twitching in that to seem realistic to me... Cheers! Ram

Hi! I thought the debate proved interesting. Main Stream Media seemed to comment a lot about it being boring... The main issue is the economy...And with the DOW at a low, it was not a time to be "funny.." However, I did think the audience lacked emotions! It was the audience, not the candidates that appeared.."Step-Ford" like! Anyway...I think Obama had the edge as well as the huge advantage of his youth. Both are commendable in different regards. Obama has a much more calming effect on me when it comes to our economy and getting our country to a better place... Best Wishes~ Shandy~

I myself found the debate to be very interesting and there were some real tough questions in there. I agree with you on Obama's calming effect on economy related issues... Cheers! Ram
