Do you prefer to buy a new or a second hand car?

I have a dilemma whether to buy a good second hand car at a bargain price with all extras included. Usually they came here with 32,000 km mileage from Japan. Or else I have the option to buy a new car which is more expensive if I have to get all the extras included in the second hand car. What would you choose?

If God will allow me to have my own car it doesnt matter if its brand new or second hand as much as it is for me and i earn it from my hardwork it will be my treasure to cherish.

I drove second hand cars for a few years and the problems I had with them were endless. I just paid money for somebody elses problems so I vowed never to buy a second hand car again. I bought a brand new car four years ago and it hasn't cost me a penny since except for two new front tires and the usual services. I don't do much driving and there is only 17000K on the clock so I think it will do me for another few years.

I like new cars. Used ones might come with an issue that you dont know about and you end up putting more money into them than you expect. The new cars cost more but they tend to come with fewer issues.

If I will trust that the second hand car is in the good condition I will definitely go for second hand car. New car are too expansive and they loose the value very quickly. So I would rather go to second hand car store and choose few years old car which was driven gently and is in good condition. The another plus in your case it is all the extra you get with the car. To sum up, if you believe the second hand car is in good condition go for it. If you find the car behavior suspicious on the road, than be careful because it can cost you lot of money and nerves in near future. Good luck with your choice!

I would choose the second hand car. A new car loses a lot of it's value the minute you drive it off the lot. That is a lot of money lost just to drive it. Even with tat mileage it can run for a good number of years. The insurance would also cost less for the used car.

Hi ronald, If I have enough budget, i will go with a new one but if I want to save and I can assure that the second hard car is in going share, then I will consider it!

Where I live a new car is so expensive that it would be idiocy for me to get a new car. A car costs more than I make before taxes, and i pay more than 30%tax on my income. We have had three used cars during the last 9 years. In total we have payed 50.000 nkr for them. Any medium sized new car would be 250.000,- plus. I have other things I'd rather spend that much money on. So: I'd always get the second hand cheap car (the only thing that is just as important as money is the environmental effect - so when they make an environment friendly car i may reconsider)

While it would be nice to have a brand new car, who can afford it? I myself always buy a second hand car, I have one now, it had 36,000 miles on it when I bought it, but it was a good car and it has been a good car, the person that had it before took really good care of it. You can find a good second hand car, if your careful and do your research first, make sure it hasn't been wrecked before, that it hasn't been in any accidents. I would choose a second hand car....

The used car sounds like a better deal. New cars value goes down by a lot as soon as you drive it. It isn't worth the money.

Nano - This is a photo of a Nano car in the color Yellow.
In these days and times it is cheaper and easier to get a good used car that will be just as good as a new one just without all the shine to it. Well unless you get a Nano which is said to be under 5,000. But I am not sure they are available in the united states yet or alot of other places yet.

Hi Ronald my son always buys a second hand car it normally always has all the modern gadgets too and you can get good deals such as exra warranty on the car and perhaps your first service included..he doesn't like buying new cars as they are too expensive and also lose money as soon as they come off the car forecourt...I don't drive but do know a lot of people go for second-hand cars...littleowl

Hi ya ronaldinu If I was planning on keeping the car for a long time I would buy a brand new car. In England when you buy a new car you don't have to have the car MoT'd (road worthy test of the vehicle) for three years and I think if you go to a proper dealer he will probably throw in the road tax for the year too.
