I know two sisters and they are called Marie-Ann and Ann-Marie. I think that the names are too similar and confusing. Would you call your older child one name and your younger child a very similar name? Have you got names that begin with the same letter of the alphabet. Simon, Seth, Sabrina, Julie, Jude are in my sister's family.

Marie-Ann and Ann-Marie will really be confusing, like asking: Is Marie in? or Is Ann around? But be glad these sisters are not filipinos or they'd end up with nick names such as ann-ann and mar-mar.LOL,I dont know why Filipinos are very fond of names with repeated syllables and usually end with -ing. Just like Bong-bong,Beng-beng,lang-lang,Dong-dong,...LOL...foreingers say Philippine names are are bells ringing.LOL...in my family our names are: Rebecca Marie Rosario Cielito Rafael Antonio Ramon Francisco as our father's name starts with R... my children has very long names taken from both sides of grandparents. My mom, whose dad was a doctor and did not practice birth control had 3 wives, one after the other of course as he was widowed twice-gave names to his children in alphabetical order. The names are Avelino,Brenda.Carmelita,Domingo,Eliza,Florence,Glenda,Helen,Isaac,Jim,Kelly,Lambert,Melissa,Norbert,Oliver,Prescila,Queenie,Ruby,Sigrid,Troy,Ulysses,Vivian,Wena... my mom is the Eldest of the second wife=her name was Helen. Almost all of them were and are professionals, cardiologist, nurse, lawyer, medical technician,dentist,chemist,teacher,...etc.LOL,quite a family that seems like a community...unfortunately,I was met some of them only...

my sister and i have the exact same name except the first letter is different lol so it's not that the first letter is similar the entire name is similar =P I love it because it's too funny when my father calls one of us from another room sometimes she would go when she and i both know he was calling me =P our names our like... lana and dana... those aren't our names but you get the idea only the first letter is the difference, and the pronunciation would be the same were it not just for that first letter lol Heck my sister and i had such fun messing with our father in that way that i wish i could name my kids with similar names as well lol... she and i due to our many pranks regarding that are real close ;)

My nieces' names both start with the letter 'B'. I'm not entirely sure why my sister-in-law (my nieces' mom) chose two names with the letter 'B', as it gets easily confusing, but it's completely her choice. To me, it really doesn't matter what their names are. They're adorable and I love them and that's what matters.

I know a family who named their twin daughters Kirsty and Kristy. How mad is that? Now not only do they have the same birth date, but their initial is the same, and almost their name is the same. I think this will cause them a lot of trouble in the future with any bureaucracy. Bank accounts, driving licenses, you name it, there will be a headache with it.

Oh sometimes really it's confusing, like I have a friend whose siblings include names like Mary Rose, Mary Grace, Mary Ann and Mary Magdalene. All of them are Mary's.

Hi maxima, ohh...I will not do that, that is very confusing for me and other people but for sure for their family and close friends, they can always see the distinction! My father, sister and I have the same starting letter in our name, only mom is different!

Well, i know two sisters who are name Pauline and Poline... and their father's name is Paul... i don't understand why they have to be given such similiar names because it can be quite confusing when talking or calling them... but if they are happy with that... then the only thing we can do is respect their decision...

My husband's aunt works as a special needs teacher and she was telling us about a set of twins at the school she works at. Their names are Lemonjello and Orangejello. Seriously. Spelled lemon jello and orange jello. My best friend's sister-in-law has three kids with names that all start with L. Lea, Luke, and Lavin.

I know a family that has all the same first letter: Kathy, Karen, Kevin and Keith. We have rhyming names, they have the same ending "arry" for two of us and "an" for two of us in our family. The arrys with one letter different is really hard for one person because he's hearing impaired and just one sound or letter different means he has to be looking at you and concentrating right at the beginning of the name. So I think the more dissimilar a name, the better when people are hearing impaired. Something I don't think people think about when they name their kids.

I have a cousin that did this she has two boys. One name Joshua and the other name Justin. That is confusing I don't know who is who. I just say that baby boy or the older one. No I would not do this. I am confused enough all ready. Trying to keep up with the ages and birthdays.

My grandparents named all of their kids with names starting with "S's" and one of their kids did the same with her kids and "K's". I used to work with a lady who named her sons Jesse Jose and Jose Jesse.
