In an effort to keep myself on track (and hopefully help you stay on track too), I thought I'd make a post to see how we're all doing here on our Christmas shopping. I know some people haven't even started yet, because for years I was one of those people. But for those of us who have started, how are you doing? So far, I have all my presents for: - Mom - Grandma 1 I have a few presents for: - Best Friend - Dad I know what I am going to get my: - Brother I still need to think of presents and buy them for: - Grandpa 1 - Grandma 2 - Grandpa 2 - Coworkers - Friends - Girlfriend - Pets Please don't feel obligated to organize your shopping in the same type of list! However you want to express how far along you are is fine with me.

I have one more present to get, and that is a digital camera for my children. Other than that all I have to do is get my food in, and wrap everything up which I am planning to start next week sometime. I have been really on the ball this year, it helped that I had been putting money away for christmas from the beginning of the year, something that I will do again next year too. I might buy some new decorations this year now I have finished everything else.

I will, that will be my New Year's Resolution. Maybe the first one that I can actually keep too.

Now that is smart to start saving money at the beginning of the year for Christmas. I should do that.

I know after christmas people are usually broke but I save a small amount to start off with and then build it up when I can. It works because I can start my shopping earlier and be done with it sooner. Try it!

Lol - you're doing much better than me! Normally I would have started back in October so then I could relax whilst everyone else is going crazy but unfortunately this year due to lack of funds it just hasn't been possible! Pus I have two birthdays before Christmas so got to get them presents first! x

Aw, you're normally better than me though. This is a new thing for me to start shopping so early. I partially started early due to knowing I wouldn't have enough money for Christmas if I saved all the shopping until the end.

We've already been told we probably won't be getting Christmas bonuses. I was also supposed to get a raise and it doesn't look like that will be happening. :( So I'm just shopping a bit at a time as I can. At the end whatever is left will be forced to go on the credit card.

so far, i have presents for 74 people (i didn't know there were that much until i read your post!) and that brings down the number of people left to 54, most of them children - nephews, nieces and godchildren.

Wow, you must have a huge family! I'm thankful that in our family, we don't get presents for cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.

hehe. my family isn't that huge, but it's close-knit, at least on my mother's side. also, that number includes my partner's family and friends; we give joint presents on christmas. =]

I can find time for online shopping no matter what, but getting to the mall seems to be nearly an all day adventure.

I think I have bought 1 gift. I am making a bunch of gifts, though, and I have bought the materials with which to make them. Other than that, I jsut survived Halloween, so it's hard to think of Christmas. (I made a bunch of costumes).

Oh that is cool. I didn't really celebrate Halloween other than handing out candy. I did buy some beading stuff to make a few of the gifts. But those are sort of extra gifts, I also buy gifts for people.

as of this evening i have gotten all MY shopping done..well except for something for my mother which is gonna have to be shipped to her anyways, so im getting that online also. i have even gotten all the stocking stuffers i need, minus any candy. NOW...whats left to do is take my little sister and my grandmother shopping for what they want to get everybody! which is far more frustrating. nobody ever thinks ahead of time what they want to get for ppl..or pay attention to those ppl when they happen to mention something they want in the months before xmas. drives me nuts walking in circles thru the stores trying to help them come up with ideas lol!

Wow you are good! Congrats on being done! That's true that taking people to shop can be much more difficult. And then generally you don't know what people on their list said that they wanted. Although, maybe in the case of family you do.

i am about 75% done my christmas shopping but i do still need to buy a few more things yet. a couple of shirts for my teen and some stuff for my parents and maybe something for my hubby yet too. i shop all year round for christmas which saves money in the long run. i have already started wrapping though, so that is good.

Okay, you are good on the wrapping because I have to admit I never do that before Christmas Eve. I hate wrapping things. I think shopping early is saving me money too since I can shop around a bit more since I'm not in a rush yet.

Personally I dont start my christmas shopping my christmas shopping till december, I dont wait till late in december I just dont get really into the christmas spirit until december. I have my present for my brothers girlfriend so far. Just a giftcard, she has very specific taste so I wasnt about to guess on what she would like. I doesnt expire which is why I got it early enough so I dont spend all my money in one shot. This weekend Im going to look around for myboyfriend and brother. Im not usually completely done shopping until December though.

wow!! what a list!! I have never bought a single item to be given away for Christmas. I have to make a budget for that yet. I am waiting for my hubby's bonus pay by December. i can't just go and have my shopping now since I am not working anymore. So, we live in a tight budget. good for you..

I am very lucky right now to have two jobs. So even though it seems like I am constantly working, it's not too bad I guess because like you said some people don't even have one job right now.

I am getting closer to being done my christmas shopping. I have alot of people to buy for so I start early. We have 8 kids to buy for and I would say I am at lest halfway done the kids. I think I am also done my parents and my husbands mother. I have something for all of the teachers. I think I still have some of the kids to do, my husband, myhusbands sister and her partner and some close friends. So I am getting closer but not quite there.

Haha. I haven't even thought about christmas gifts yet. I'm notorious for going to the mall on the 24th, stopping at a books store and buying a book for each person on the list according to their interest. It's the typical male way to shop i guess

I used to always go to the mall on Christmas Eve (and I'm a woman, haha). But one year it was really bad because all the stores were closed. I didn't know they would be, but apparently the malls all announced it. Well, that year I got everyone's presents at 7-Eleven! You can just imagine how horrible that was I'm sure. My dad still shops like a true man though and does all his shopping on the 24th like you do.

haha. last year I swore I would never wait that late to shop again after getting stuck in the parking lot traffic for forever. we'll see. I'm sure i'll probably end up right back there on christmas eve again. I think the best bet is to just do all the christmas shopping online but then you really have to plan ahead. It would save the headache of fighting the christmas mall crowds though.

Well, I am only buying for my daughter, neices and nephews this year. And, so far, I have bought my daughter so far 4 gifts, and plan to buy her a couple more larger ones.

I am not far at all and not sure how we are going to do it. We have just barely enough to get by, I am doing surveys and things getting Amazon Cert., so at least we can get our kids something for under the tree.

Do you write articles already too? I am going to be writing a lot shortly to get more money for Christmas presents. I thought I was doing good, but now one of my rabbits has to visit the vet tomorrow and that's going to cut into the Christmas spending money.

I have only managed to get a few stocking stuffers for the kids and I have a present for one of my brothers. I have no idea what I am going to be getting for just about everybody else this year. I should get to thinking about that.

I haven't even started my Christmas shopping. I'll probably do the same thing I did last year though and get everyone a gift from my local book store. Books make great gifts and they have a lot of cute calendars and many other neat little items. I saw some pillows there that have cute or inspirational sayings on them, so that's another idea. Thanks for the question....and the reminder! :-D

You're welcome! The bookstore is always a good idea I think. You can usually find something for everyone there.
