Have you ever wrote a letter to Congress, or The President of The United States?

Have you ever done this? What about when you was very young. Have you ever had to do this for any other reason... If so, what did you say on the letter? Did you get an response back? I think that it would be very exciting to get an response back.

When President Bush started the War against terrorists I was so proud that I sent Him an Email to tell Him how great that was. I never recieved a response. It is not possible for the Government to answer all the letters they get. In My opinion, He has done a poor job of fighting terrorisim.

I also did when I was very young - as a school assignment - I got a reply back from President Reagan - I wish I kept that letter. I just got a letter from a US Senator congratulating me on my victory for City Council - I was very excited.

When I was in elementary school we all had to write letters to the President. It was so long ago, I have no idea what I wrote. But I did get a letter back! I don't remember what it said either, but I liked the stamp on it. It was cool getting mail addressed from the White House!

I have never written a letter to the President, but my daughter has received a letter from the white house from Bill clinton. I live in Belfast Northern Ireland and when my daughter was thirteen she wrote a poem about Northern Ireland and the troubles here. She also wrote a poem for september the 11th and the terrorist attack as it happened on her 13th birthday. When Bill clinton was over in Belfast visiting, she was choosen to read her poem about september 11th out in frount of him and a huge crowd. She was amazing doing it and I felt so proud. A few months later she recieved a letter, not written by Bill himself but signed by him anyway. I will treasure the letter for her future, She got her poem published in a book also. I would of liked to write to him to thank him, but I think his reply was enough.

Oh yes I have a few times and yes, they'll write you back and most of the time it's pretty quick, something like within a month or so. They write back because they want your vote come election time however, when they're able to help a person out, they get more and more votes in their favor. One time my husband was promoted in the army and his pay wasn't reflecting it and one place would blame the other and it went on for about 6 months and no matter what hubby did to satisfy them, it wasn't cleared up so we both wrote our congressmen and he got his pay the very next pay day!! Mess with a congressman and see what happens!! LMBO!!

I never had the chance to do a thing like that. I read in the papers when Obama was elected that a young Filipina girl wrote to him and got an answer. It was a big deal and they printed her picture on the front page. Cheers!!

Not only have I done this for more years than I can remember, I doubt that I'll ever stop! A friend of my parents' was a Senator and he told me when I was a very little girl(several centuries ago) That people seem to want to tell "famous" people what they think they want to hear. He told me that, if constituents don't express their ideas and ask their questions, those who represent them in the government won't know what their people want. They're all very aware that their jobs depend upon being responsive to our desires, and they really do need to know what they are. That's why lobbyists are so powerful. They get paid for making sure governemnt hears about what they want. We all need to be lobbyists for those things that are really important ot us. Just don't over-do it so you don't come across as some pitiful soul who needs to get a life. I have been known to stop in at their offices, too, to make sure things that ar important to me are known. Naturally, if I ask them to stand up for me, I return that by volunteering on their campaigns.

Actually I wrote a letter to the President once. It was part of the class project when I was in about the 3rd grade. Ronald Reagan was the president at the time. I don't have a clue what I wrote to him about, but I remember we had a list of about three things to choose from to write to him about, and we had to pick one topic and tell him how we felt about it as best we could from our limited knowledge of things that we had at that age. Our teachers read them before we mailed them, but we got to actually send them, and we all got a book about the White House and about President Reagan. I don't think he actually took the time to read all the letters, but the book was pretty cool. I wish I still had it, but it was lost over the years.

I did that once. I got a form letter back. The president doesn't reply personally to anything, I don't think. Form letters are automatically generated and sent. The president is too busy to read his mail. You can send a hate letter to the president and before the FBI comes to your door, you'll receive a form letter thank you for your support!

I never did that ever since in my life to write a letter to the president. i might try now that we have a new president and they said, he is a good man and has a heart for the poor. Let's try to see how he would react when one of the common people would write to him a letter. I have to figure out yet what am I going to write, Whether a request or other things. He has a website, maybe I can direct my letter to that website.

i have and i got an automatic response back.. i cant for the life of me remember what it was over though.. but one day when i was trying to get the politicians attention to a website that was a hate site to get taken down i did get a response and a phone call from an assistant from a governor from i think it was like south carolina (it was a long time ago) and it was really cool to have gotten that much attention but it was nothing they could do anyways lol so it was a waste but oh well

Yep, I have written the President before. I think I was probably in the fourth or fifth grade, so Bill Clinton was still in the Oval Office at the time. I really can't remember what exactly I wrote, but I did get a response. I still have that letter too, all these years later.

I have thought about writing a letter to the Prime Minister of my country when I was young. I never tried it as I never had the address. May be one day I would ask my son to write one to express his views.

Hello cream. I have never written to a leader because I have never thought about this. It would be amazing if we could receive a reply from them. I think that I would give it a try some day.

Hi Cream, I am from the UK so have never written to your President. I do often email the Prime Minister here though about various issues and always receive an email back. I also do petitions about certain subjects and recently permission was allowed for families of injured servicemen to have special temporary housing near the hospital to make life easier for them so I do make a difference along with many others, if enough people take action and voice their views. Huggles. Ellie :D

Just know that when you write a letter to the president you are automatically on file with the FBI.
