How Much Will You Pay for Your Dessert?

If you go out to a restaurant and order a dessert, what is the most that you are willing to pay for it? We seldom get a chance to go out to eat but once in a while I'll save some room for dessert. The prices seem to be around the $3-$5 range. Some places can be even higher than that. I don't think I have ever paid more than $5 for a dessert. I just couldn't do it. How about you?

I skip dessert if it's not included with the meal. Most meals are bigger then I can eat anyway and we are always on a tight budget.

That's true. At least with a big meal you can take it home for another day.

Call me an old cheapo! When we are out on the town at a nice restaurant, we don't buy dessert - they are too high. We went out on my husband's birthday to a nice steak house. I had a baked sweet potato with my steak which was my dessert as well as part of my meal. Their desserts were off the wall in price! I get a dessert when I go to a fast food restaurant - an apple pie for $.50-$1.00 or a cup of ice cream or something like that. But we hardly ever have bought a dessert unless it's a piece of pie for around $2-$3, and then, that is too much. I keep running up in my head how much money they are making off that pie I could have bought much cheaper and gotten the whole pie!

Most desserts seem to be in the 3.95 to 4.95 range. I don't know that I have ever paid much more than that for a dessert msyelf. It is important to be happy with the dining out experience. It is a lot of money to spend in today's economy.

The best is if you find a restaurant where the dessert is included in the meal. I don't think there are many places like that though.

I usually skip dessert...unless it is a special occasion. I don't see paying 200% or 300% markup on something I could make at the house.

When I'm at a buffet, I most definitely get my fill of dessert. But other than that, I've yet to ever even consider ordering a dessert. Most times if we want dessert we go to a different location, like an ice cream bar or something, where it's much cheaper, and usually tastier too. I'm sure there will be times when money cannot be an issue, and it's simply part of a formal meal, but in those cases I'd still much rather go without the dessert, than put out that extra money for it.

depends on what you get for your money and if it looks apetising enough i would pay between1 and 3 dollars for a dessert

I agree. Some desserts that are pricier could hardly feed a fly.
