I usually like to spice up my meals a little when I am either frying or baking a nice family dinner. Of course onions are great to have especially sauteed but how many of you like to add the sweet taste of a red pepper or maybe a chopped up green pepper for flavor?

I love doing this especially if the meal has a Italian flair to it. I just love peppers and green peppers. I also put them in my meatloaf and meatballs. Use them in Omelets for others and in salads. I sweet green pepper is always a good thing to add to meals it gives them a little extra umpf! to an ordinary meal.

I also like to add them to my chili and Mexican cornbreads. I was raised eating them since they were always a staple in our garden. And they were used alot and in our rice dishes, soups, cabbage rolls and we also enjoy stuffed green peppers and stuffed jalapeno peppers and we also enjoy them in our cheese.

My family would kill me! LOL they are so picky, they won't eat anything. I think every night I make something I hear a complaint. They don't like this and they don't like that. OH I HATE IT!! If I were to put something like that into what I am cooking no one would eat it.

Oh, that is a shame that they are a little picky. Sometimes the best things for your children or family is something that they turn their noses up to! In time they might appreciate the peppers especially if you introduce them slowly or cooked in different forms. It is hard to get the children to eat right. But as parents we keep trying!

oh yes, Even to get them to eat there veggitables I will tell them no bedtime snack unless they eat their veggies. They will take like 1/4 of a spoon full, but to me at least they are eating them. Even though they act like they are killing themself by eating it. :) Its funny to watch.

I love peppers! I live in Canada in the summer, (where hot peppers are not native) and South Texas in the winter, (where Jalapeno peppers grow)When I first came to the Rio Grande valley in Tx. Hot peppers were way too hot. But time changes all that, and now I really enjoy a Hot pickled Jalapeno pepper. So what I want to say is, "Yes I love sweet peppers too, but do yourself a favor and try a little hot pepper in your recipes as well." We get Cuban peppers here too in the early fall. They are sweet and tangy. Poblano peppers are long green peppers with a tangy slightly hot taste. They are a good kind to try when your not used to Hot Peppers. Good Cooking!

Thank you for replying. I don't thing I have even heard of the Poblano peppers but they do sound interesting. I am always in for something different to spice up the dish! I really like the hot peppers, but of course not too eye-watering hot. And the sweet peppers are just wonderful. Take care friend.

I found out about banana peppers a couple of months ago. The taste is sweet, yet a little tart. They're yellow and sooooo yummy!! Try them if you haven't before. I love 'em!! They're especially good in omelets with asparagus, ham and sharp cheddar cheese!

Thanks for responding. I think that I might have heard of banana peppers before and it sounds very good. I also like to put peppers in omelets on occasion. I am not too crazy about asparagus but I know that my husband would probably like the idea of the peppers with asparagus especially the ham and cheddar cheese that you mentioned. Take care friend.

Thank you for your response winterose. Onions are great to use along with the peppers. I use mushrooms once in a while because I am not too crazy over them although my husband is a big mushroom fan himself and likes to fry them when he can and add it to certain dishes. Take care friend.

I love peppers and I could go on and on about how I use them. This is just one way. I love outdoor grilling and one of my favorite things to grill is kabobs. I use chicken, beef, pork, smoked sausage, shrimp, or a combination of meat. When I make them I like to layer whatever meat I use with the different colored peppers and onions. After I get them all made up I drizzle them with olive oil and add seasoning. They look great and taste even better.

That all sounds very good what you described. Adding oil and seasoning to the onions and green pepper medley sounds like something great to try. Sounds like you are quite the cook! I love peppers also of course and it is good to hear from those that like them and use them too. Thanks for the response doddee.

Thanks for replying. I do agree that peppers add something distinct to the flavoring of certain dishes. Now I don't use peppers in everything but they do go well with omelets, steak and hamburgers. There are a whole lot of different ideas out there probably. Take care mjweed.

Hi bamakelly! I like different colors of peppers in most of the dish that I cook, actually I've just seen 3 colors, lol! red or yellow pepper in fried noodles or stir fry veggies and beef stew and sometimes I also put red pepper in omelet. I put green pepper when I make sandwiches! Thanks.

Thanks for replying CJay. I never had green peppers in a sandwich unless it was tuna fish. That can be pretty tasty. I like red peppers also and that sounds great to add to an omelet dish. Take care friend.

Yes, I love to add colorful peppers to recipes. I also like roasted red peppers that come in a jar. They need to be rinsed and dried first, but their flavor is excellent in all sorts of things.

Yes, they are usually packed in oil. Some brands also add a garlic clove to the jar. I usually find them by the pickles in the store.

Yeah, we put on bell peppers in our dishes when we could or if it matches :D It'd be weird if we'd put it on whatever haha though I think we're keen on experimenting on that - but are just too afraid to waste the food if it doesn't turn out right. Thanks for the comment on my discussion! Happy New Year!
