The lie detector machine as what i have heard is 90% accurate but can a chronic liar who eats and breathes lies survive and pass the lie detector test or will he fail? Can he manipulate his answers? Which is better, man or machine? In the vain of Kasparov vs Deep Blue the computer.

AS I understand it a chronic liar can pass a lie detector test. They are capable of controlling their emotions and body language. Since there are almost no perceptible physiological and psychological changes, the lie detector would pass the person under investigation. I know a person who can lie with a straight face and many had become his victims. Only those close to him know whether he is lying or not. In a way man is better. The usual argument is man created machines. A computer can carry tasks and make decisions based on logic. Man is able to utilise fuzzy logic and gut instinct. all the best, rosdimy

Well said Ros. The physiological part is the most difficult to control i think because the body must act differently to what the mind is saying.

Yes they can pass. As they blieve there own lies and now think the lie is the truth so yes I believe that one can pass. But then I mite be worng but there are people that I know that have lied for so many years now believe the lie to be the truth. Your friend onlydia. The man is still better.

I think a pathological liar can which is different than a chronic liar. A chronic liar will lie when it's just as easy to tell the truth and for the most part they can't help themselves although they know it to be a lie. A pathological liar believes in the lies they are telling and for them are the truth. So when the pathological liar undergoes the lie detector many times the body reaction that triggers the machine to record that the answer is "deceptive" does not occur as he believes it to be the truth.

Thanks for the enlightenment! So a pathological liar will most likely pass the lie detector test than a chronic liar.

I've heard before, if you believe what you're saying to be the truth, whether it is or not, you'll pass the test. I remember one show where they were trying to help a girl find her father and the gave a lie dectector test to the mom, because the mom would be more prone to knowing if the guy the daugther was suggesting was a lie because the daugther had been raised believing he was her dad.

Yeah but you know, the wires connected to the body, the atmosphere, and a lot of variables kind of affect our concentration. So it's possible too that the truth can turn out to be lies according to the machine and that's got to suck. What was the result by the way?

He'd probably end up in jail if he never trained to manipulate the machine. I think we can never find a person or machine or joined forces of both which can be 100% accurate in telling whether you lied or not. Unless, God would yell it at us with a megaphone..."LIIIIAAAAR"

I'd imagine that a chronic liar could pass a lie detector test just because if your constantly lying then you will be fairly well at making anyone and everyone believing what you say. You know your a good liar when your family even believes the lies you say. Heck, you know your an extremely great liar when you even believe yourself. I would say man can conquer just about anything. Especially computers. Our minds are so much more advanced then computers will ever be. Man over machine to the fullest, all the time.

There are certain people that can pass a lie detector test even though they are lying. It is just a matter of control. In the case of chronic liars I don't think they would have any trouble at all passing the test because chronic liars have convinced themselves that they are telling the truth.
