Have You Ever Been To A Comedy Club?

This weekend I was invited by some co-workers to go to a local Comedy Club. I had never been to one before and it sounded life fun, so I was game. There were three comedians doing stand-up that night. I don't remember the other two's names but I do remember one's name, Mike Smith. He was the best of the three comedians. I bought one of his CD's off of him and he autographed it to me and my friend. I convinced him to give me a kiss on my cheek and then my friend tried to convince him to give her a kiss and he wouldn't do it, saying, "I can't, my friend is here". She said, "Well, you just gave her a kiss". I don't think she cared too much for that. Then a couple minutes later I convinced him to kiss me on my other cheek. I think that really kind of upset her for sure then. She then started referring to the CD I bought as her CD, so I just let her have it and said, "Doesn't matter because I got 2 kisses instead of a CD". It kind of aggraviated me because I did buy the CD, but I found the comedian on MySpace so I think I'm going to email him and see if I can buy another CD. If you are interested in checking out Mike Smith then you can do so by visiting this address http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=431349236 . So, have any of you ever been to a Comedy Club or met any famous Comedians?

i haven't got yet the opportunity to go in a comedy bar or club but i am always looking forward to try it because every time i saw a comedian on tv shows, it really entertains me and make me laugh. Unfortunately i don't know any comedy club in our area but in Manila there's loads of comedy that i am looking forward to try in the future just in case opportunity allows me if i came to the place. Anyways, its a good way to somehow release tension and stress when watching comedians.

Yes! I met Tom Hanks when he was just starting out and doing comedy clubs and also Foster Brooks! Tom was a nobody at that time but a week after I saw him in the club, I was shocked to see him on the Johnny Carson show, who by the way, gave Tom the break he needed, and the rest is history!

i've been to a comedy bar once and it was fun. but we never sitted on the front row coz we are afraid that the stand up comedians will try to play with us. coz in the philippines, comedians will try to play with the audience. so it's expected that the people who will watch knows about it. it's a bit humiliating but the audience must understand that it's part of the act.

That is funny that he gave you 2 kisses and did not give her one at all. I have never been to a comedy club before, but I bet it would be a lot of fun.

No, I have never been to a comedy club and I don't think I can make up some time to go there. I mean its worthless going to a comedy club if you can find little things in your life for laugh. We so many things in our life to have good laugh. We People just tend to ignore such things and look out for something like comedy clubs.

Yes, we all have humor in our own lives but I think comedians try to help us find humor in our lives too. Single Mommy means, I'm a mommy who is single. Thanks for commenting!

I've never been but me and my friends have been talking about heading into the city to check one out. I've heard of this Mike Smith guy but I actually heard the opposite from a friend. They weren't into him. Interesting.

Oh really? Wow, I thought he was really good. I guess sometimes we can take comedians different ways. He has some of his stand-up on his MySpace page though, so you should check it out and see if you like him or not. Thanks for the comment!

We have a Comedy Club not too far from us. My husband and I love going, but we check the website first to see what kind of comedian is there. So go over the top and aren't funny, at least to me. We've bought several of the CD's, and one comedian we've seen on tv. It's kind of exciting to see new comedians (hopefully)on their way up. Your friend sounds childish, if you go again bring a different friend.

Hi ya singlemommy! I have been to a comedy club and it was great! There were about five comedians and by the time I got out of there my stomach hurt from laughing so hard! I didn't meet any of them but I really enjoyed going. A word of advice though, they tend to pick on the people that sit in the front of the stage. ALOT! lol I sit at a table about mid way. Thank goodness! They give a couple there a pretty hard time. They took it very well though and seem to enjoy theirselves too. Have fun!

Yes, they were picking on people in front of the stage at the show I went to too. I think everyone took it all pretty well. I mean you can't go to a comedy show if you aren't willing to laugh even it the joke might be on you.

I love a good comedy club, there's nothing quite like it. I like Yuk Yuks in particular, probably because it was the first place I had been to. I was up in Toronto with my husband and it was awesome, just like I imagined in my head. We walked in and there were little tables and chairs everywhere. The back-drop to the stage was a big red curtain. On the stage was a stool and another stool with a bottle of water. The comedians that night were great. The atmosphere was kind and the crowd was involved. I was hooked. I like the quaint little atmosphere, you never know who's going to come out. We went to see Gerry D in Toronto (we like it up there) and he brought out Canada's top comedian (Russell Peters). The audience went nuts, all except us. We had to ask who he was since we were from the State's and had never heard of him. It was quite the treat. Both comedians were excellent and we got to meet both of them after the show. I think most comedy clubs are small and intimate and it makes for a great night out.

I have been to a couple of comedy clubs but it was a long time ago when I was younger. There are a nice way to enjoy the evening. The clubs I had been to were mainly if an amateur theme but they were still funny. Can't say I have ever met anyone famous unfortunately.

Yeah, i've been to comedy bar and it was fun! The stand-up comedians were great, they made every client laugh at their funny jokes... There were three comedians that night... in fact, the lady comedian is now a famous comedy actress in one of the leading stations here in the Phils..

My husband have frequented comedy clubs in Utah and Las Vegas. We've seen some great comedians and comedians that just flopped. Personally I think there is nothing funnier than a comedian that isn't funny. It makes us laugh just to hear the silence in the room. I think its good for their self esteem that someone is laughing even if its not at their joke.
