I agree with MrTimHarry. The writings of Nostradamus are very vague and time after time people read them and say that after the fact, Nostradamus predicted an event. I've rarely heard an interpretation of his writing before an actual event happened. Not really familiar with the Mayan calendar but it makes a lot of sense that something like that could happen. The ice caps are melting at an alarming rate.

Predictions can be made to fit almost any circumstance, and the writings of Nostradamaus are vague at best and any event can be manipulated to fit what was written with imagination. As for the Mayan calandar it just ran out in 2012, at which point the cycle of the calandar would be repeated there is nothing in Mayan culture to point to the end of the world.
