Do you still say "i'm not busy" when you actually are?

Busy Bee - With a bee like this, who would say "i'm busy"?

Some people just find it hard to say no so even if they're busy, they can still afford to say "i'm not busy" just to give way like a conversation on the phone, chatting, people coming over for a visit, etc.

I was like that when I was young, I just didn't know how to say no or reject others. But now, I'll just tell I am busy. If the person really wants me to help out, then I'll see if I really can spend some time for him or her, even though I am really busy. Sometimes at work, even though you are busy, you still need to help out others.

Haha, that's true. It's not a choice but a command especially if it's coming from the boss hehe..

I have to say that sometimes I am guilty of this. I do not really like to say no if someone wanted to come over for a visit. Even if I were busy, I would say that I was not, so they could come over. I would then try to rearrange my schedule so I could fit everything in that I needed to get done. I know I should get better at saying no when I am busy, but what can I say, thats just the way I am. I would also want my friend to be available if I wanted to come over for a visit, so I try to do the same for them.

Same here. I just don't want to disappoint them that's why i'm trying to flex my schedule too so that i can still accomodate them even if i'm too busy.

I am guilty of saying "I'm not busy" when in reality I was swamped with work. I say the words only to certain people. My siblings and I live in different parts of the country. So whenever one of them comes to visit it is only natural for me to spend some time with them. It is the same thing for friends who I rarely meet. As for the rest when I am busy I say so to them. I used to find it hard to do so. After realising that most of the time all they wanted was idle chat I decided to put my foot down. all the best, rosdimy

I agree. There are these people that are too special for us that we can put away some work just to accomodate them.

I really do follow this and I already "trained" most of my contacts to really believe me what I write to them. Like, when I say "Downtown for shopping" and when I'd come home I would have like bajillion of people tried to contact me with messages like "you there???????????????" The problem is not being honest to yourself, the problem is other people recognize that.

Actually, it is hard to pretend to someone that you are not busy even if you are. Here in Philippines, we Filipinos are known for being hospitable. Once a visitor came over in our house, even we have so much stuffs to do, we entertain them.We want to give comfort to them by having a lively discussion and entertain them the best that we can.We want them to feel that our home is their home also.Aside from that, we are just thinking that it is not everytime they will have the chance to visit us, so once they made a visit we want it to be very memorable.Household chores is a never ending task. The dishes and the laundry is always there everyday, but a visitor will just visit once, so we make it a point for them to feel special. However, in my case, when I am dealing with my friends such as chatting them over phone or internet, I keep it to be honest with them when I am busy. For example I am doing some stuffs on the internet and then a friend comes online, I still greet him or her. But even if I am so busy, I still tell them that we can chat. I can still chat but it will be a slow chat since I am doing something also. I think it is a good thing to be honest to people. I can say that there is nothing bad telling them that you are busy. Anyway, I think so that they experienced same situation, and I can say that they also understand it.

As many people before have confessed,I usually say I'm busy when I'm not:) Not all the time(I still have some conscience) but mostly at work-can't stand talking on the cell at work. My boss doesn't even mind when I use my phone at work-she knows I hate it and it'll be over soon.

Yes, I actually say "Im not busy" when I really am busy because I want to be more busy. Sometimes, If I'm not at the mood maybe ill just say that I'm busy or DND :)
