Michigan Home Of Democrats, The Big Three, and The Detroit Lions

Governor Jennifer Granholm is a Democrat. Both Houses of the Legislature are controlled by Democrats. Both US Senators are Democrats. Democrat Congressman representing the State outnumber Republicans two-to-one. The Mayor of Detroit Kwame Kilpatrick is a convicted Democrat who now sits in a jail cell. Ford, GMC, and Chrysler is headquartered in Michigan. Now the Detroit Lions own a distinction no team wants the worst in NFL history. I wonder if there is a connection?

I would say take a look at a bigger landscape to see the best counter-argument against this logical fallacy of yours - assuming that correlation equals causation. Oh, I know you're being light-hearted and thus I can't assume you don't know the difference. I'm just being very literal, as is my norm, and pointing to the gorilla in the living room. "...and I'm gonna love 'im, and hug 'im, an' call him..." Oh, I just can't do it!! ;)

I don't believe Gewcew is implying any form of causation. It's more of an attempt to see the common link between the three and determine why all these things are occurring in the same state.

Well, I also noticed yesterday that the Lions' coach was fired after a 0-16 season, the first in NFL history. That is some kind of loss! Maybe they are all connected. I even have a sister-in-law that was born and raised in Michigan and we have problems! Something must be amiss in Michigan. I've only been there once, so I really don't know much about the state.

Maybe the people of Michigan need to take a lesson from the Lions and start firing some politicians.

Now that might help their problems. You would think by now they would have figured out what was wrong.

I was raised in Michigan. As soon as I became an independent adult, I got out. To any objective independent minded thinker, it is obvious what I'm about to say. There is something inherently wrong with most leadership in the state. I could tell even as a teenager. On a recent visit back to the state, I tried to explain these things to my in-laws who still live there. They just think I'm wierd. The rest of the world is screwed up is what they think. Michigan, in the mind of Michiganders, is NORMAL.

It could be. If the Democrats excuse every wrong doing or say that they are perfectly all right, that they can do what they want and yet demand that the Republicans hold themselves to a higher standard and do the "do what we say, not what we do thing" then that attitude will carry through to any place they have power, like in Congress, like in a State, like in a City, or in a business and I consider Detroit Lions a business. Trouble is when you do not apply the same standards to yourselves, you suffer.

Well I guess in Michigan the attitude would be it cannot get any worse.
