Do you believe "fate" plays a role in your life?

I consider myself an evidence-based kind of person. Yet, I can’t escape the idea that certain choices I made were somehow “fateful”. Sorry for no description, but I wanted to say about my view of “fate”. Thoughts?

As a therapist, I see that fate plays a part in our lives, but is nothing that's really magical. Our subconscious mind is more powerful than a lot of people realise. We pick up small signals in the environment when we wish something to happen, and are subconsciously attracted to places and events that will bring our goals. This can be positive, but it can also be a negative wish that we have no awareness of. Simply put, this could be like for instance, "a guilt-complex" that is a need for punishment that we have learned to accept as a result of the comments of others. We then repress this complex and feel we must "pay our dues", and this can explain the uncanny bad luck that at times may seem to dog us. Uncovering unconscious guilt has proved time and time again to improve the quality of life with clients I have seen. :-) Derek

I believe our paths are set forth before us, fate has much to do with what happens on our path of life. It's up to us to choose the right path that brings us happiness. Everything happens for a reason. We can also change our fates with our actions.

Hi coolmailraj, As I look back over my almost seventy years, I have to say that I believe strongly in fate. All of life is little more than a big mystery and we never know what is going to happen next. I do of course, believe that we must prepare for life and try to make the right choices in regard to education, work, marriage etc. In the end however, we know that fate has played a big part. Blessings.

I do believe that fate plays a role in my life. I was made to understand about the concept of fate in my religion that our life paths have been determined before this world was created. Nevertheless the path for each person is not singular. In many cases there are at least two paths or options for us to choose from. So to a certain extent we determine how our lives will end up. There are also fixed parts in the path we have chosen. all the best, rosdimy

I do not believe in fate at all. We were given free will and so we make our own choices. No one or nothing can say how our life will turn out.

I definately believe in fate. I also believe that we create the situations that we think is fateful. Everything happens for a reason. Any decision that is made is never the wrong decision because everything works out for the greater good of everybody.
