Would you rather go camping outdoors in a tent, or spend a night in a hotel?

Some say that camping is a more intimate, definitely a more isolated experience. Others point out that nothing can compare with spending the night in a fancy hotel... What would be your choice if given this alternative?

I have been camping once and I can honestly say it was an experience I do not wish to repeat. So give me the fancy hotel any day! A nice comfy warm bed, room service, a hot shower with soap and shampoo! A fluffy robe and slippers! No ticks or scavengers trying to steal your food in the middle of the night. No cold hard ground or trying to huddle around a fire. No pooping in the woods!! Give me a bubble bath and room service anytime!

I have actually never been camping before, so I guess I can't really say much about it! I do love staying in hotels, though. I don't mind if it's a fancy hotel or a more inexpensive one. I just think it's fun and relaxing to stay someplace different every now and then. I wouldn't mind trying camping sometime, but I think I would probably prefer a hotel most of the time.

I love camping and I have had some lovely times camping in quiet spots. My favorite night camping was spent at a tiny cove in New Zealand on a walking track. Up to five tents were allowed and so it was a peaceful setting. In the morning I saw superb views of the beach and ocean. I have stayed in a few hotels but have felt removed from the local people. At one hotel in Kenya and security man said it was dangerous to go out of the hotel grounds. I wasn't at all and then I went on a real adventure on a train to Nairobi where I took a five day safari. That was in a tent, perfect. I usually stay in locally owned guest houses not hotels. I would prefer to stay in a tent than a hotel for the experience of nature.

I like both. I have gone camping before, and I have had a nice time, but when I go on a trip I usually choose to stay in a hotel. Camping in Denmark can be fun, but the weather is often very cold and rainy and therefore I prefer to stay in a hotel. I don't like like to stay in a big and fancy hotel. I am not interested in luxury, I would much rather stay in a small hotel owed by the local people. If it is possible I sometimes choose B&B instead of a hotel.

Give me a hotel please. I have no desire to sleep on the ground, outside with creatures scurrying about. I like to wake up in a nice comfy room, order room service, take a nice long hot shower that I #1 don't have to share and #2 don't have to wear my flip flops in. Then I'll flip on the tv, while I look over the morning paper and enjoy my breakfast. To each his own.

I love camping and sleeping beneath the stars, but I really miss the home comforts, even going without electricity is like going cold turkey, you don't realize just how you take electricity for granted. I prefer to go camping alone because you can go where you want and do what you like, the freedom of pitching tent whenever and wherever you like. I do hate the bugs as well. It is much cheaper to camp and when I went travelling a few year ago I just took my tent, mountain bike and car and travelled on my own, you have to buy and cook your own meals if you have a portable stove so it's all self-catering. It depends if you want luxury or you are looking at cost. Both are a good experience and there are pros and cons for both.

On a personal level I much rather camp, but in a trailer or camper. I'm too old now to enjoy tent style, lol. But I used to do a lot of it when I was younger. On the other hand, hubby prefers hotels. They don't have to be expensive, in fact he prefers them to be cost efficient...not cheap, lol. I love the great outdoors and waking up with nature is one of my favorite things.

I would prefer camping in the hotel. It is very safe to stay in a room than a tent.It will protect us from insect bites and wild animals. It will also protect us from thieves. It will also protect us from the cold in the mornings.

I would go for the fancy hotel as I hate camping! I ove eing pampered in the little ways that a fancy hotel do such as the chocolates on your pillow at bedtime and breakfast in bed and the fresh towels everyday with clean bed sheets to get into! So yes hotel all the way for me! x

For me, I would love to spend the time outside camping. I like being with nature. It can be relaxing when you get back to the basics. We as a nation have become so materialistic it's not even funny. I think more people need to get back to the basics of life.

Can I compromise and spend my time in a rustic cabin way out in the woods? I like everything about camping except sleeping in a tent. I wouldn't even mind that except....every single time I've done it, I've gotten ill. I have no idea why but we're talking fever, chills. It's miserable! When I've stayed in a cabin and done everything I would otherwise while camping I have never gotten ill. I think my favorite thing on outings like this is cooking over a campfire. For some reason no matter what we're cooking it just tastes so good. I'd take that over the fancy hotel option any day.

I prefer staying in a hotel. I'm not much for roughing it. However, I grew up camping-- from tents to pop-ups to VW campers, we did it all. I'd love for my kids to have their camping experiences as well, because it really is a lot of fun... for a short time!
