.... if you act now, you can get a second one free, just pay shipping and handling. Also, if you call in the next 20 minutes, we'll throw in a mini discombobulator - absolutely free! We've all seen those crazy info-mercials on TV advertising everything under the sun. Some of the items appear pretty innovative, while others to me are just stupid (like those aquaglobe thingies that water your plants for you). Have you ever purchased anything from an info-mercial? Were you happy with the product you received? One thing in particular that I'm interested in is that thing to paint your walls, I believe it's called the Point N Paint or somesuch. I will HOPEFULLY be in my house within the next month and every room will need painted, and if this thing works half a swell as they advertise, I think I'll get one. Have any of you tried it? What did you think? And who thinks up these stupid names anyway? ShamWOW? Slap Chop?

HI there: Yeah I hate those stupid darn infomercials myself , sometimes there is a item or two that may be worth buying; I see a lot of this same stuff in my local Walgreen's too and I honestly don't know "why" they sell this crap there ?? This item is one I bought last year and I'm here to tell you all ITS JUNK! DON'T BUY IT; THIS IS NOT A REFERRAL LINK, BUT A DO NOT BUY IT LINK (g)! http://www.asseenontvguys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=234 Trust me it is JUNK JUNK JUNK!! It wore out before I really even got to use the dang thing, both of the recorders were junk; DO NOT BUY! WASTE OF MONEY!! and here's another one to me that is JUNK JUNK JUNK!!! and here's another one I bought at Walgreen's only because it was cheaper as they were running a sale for $9.99 for this JUNK! http://www.asseenontvguys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=510 what a waste of money I took it back to Walgreen's and got a refund!!!! it might work for some things as it says but for what I bought it for to hang up a stupid flag, it fell repeatedly! so don't trust it to hold up the weight it says it will....HAR DE HAR HAR!!! be careful of what you buy!! Some things are good! Some things are junk!!

Wow, that mighty putty stuff doesn't work? I thought that was one of the things that might be good to have on hand. Guess I'll cross that off my Christmas list. No info on the paint thingie?

Some of our local news stations run tests of these things. I like the idea of the Pedi Paws, but doubt that my cats would sit still for me to use it on them.

I love those commericals, they are far better than the ones they spent a lot of money on. There is a reason there are labeled "Not sold in stores" because no retailer would take a chance on those dust gathering gadgets. The names are silly aren't they, I guess if you create a product and you want people to remember it ShamWOW would do the trick. But wait! There's more!

I will admit to being tempted, but have never bought any of those things. In my opinion, if a product needs that much hype to sell, it probably isn't worth buying. I don't know about the paint thing, but if it's the same quality as other things have been reported to be, I wouldn't bother with it.

Okay, I want some aquaglobes, because I think they are pretty, and I have overfilled a pot or two. The names are often stupid, and the items are just reworked blasts from the past. Most of them are available at Wal Mart, though. I guess I missed where you told about getting a house. I will go look at your old discussions.

Oh yes we've fallen for some gimmicks before. Years ago my husband bought some kind of squeegie type mop which was probably the worst mop I've ever used in my life. I have bought the Nad's wax hair remover, which actually does work quite well. We bought some kind of vegetable chopper wich was basically junk. Right now I keep seeing the infomercial for the Haan steam cleaner which I really want to buy but I'm looking to read some reviews on it first.

I got sucked into the Magic Bullet blender/juicer/piece of poop. I also gave in to the ShamWOW things but I picked them up at Canadian Tire and not through the infomercial. The Magic Bullet was garbage and it now sits in the cupboard taking up space. The ShawWows are ok but I don't find them any different than any other chamois, and it was $20 for a 4 piece set! I like the idea of those Aquaglobe things but you can just buy a self watering planter for $2! I've never heard of that painting thing, sounds neat though.

I look at those from time to time, just for the entertainment. I can not bring myself to purchase those things. I do not want to go through any kind of hassles with those companies. My sister purchased a George Forman grill many years ago and she loves it. Maybe I will get one when I get my own place, but other than that, no thank you.

I'm not sure what the painting thing you refer to is, but I do know you can get "automatic rollers" in hardware stores. Not sure how they work, I think they either have a reservoir for the paint or maybe a hose to go in the can. I just remember seeing them at Home Depot. There's also a sprayer device for painting, much like the manual pesticide sprayers of old, where you pour the liquid in the tank, pump it up, and start spraying. But back to your first question: Have I ever purchased anything from on info-mercial? No, they didn't ship the Bass-o-matic to Canada...

paint pad - Alternative to paint rollers and brushes.
Oh, ok, now I know what you mean. They work well, and are also available at most hardward stores.

No, the thing I'm talking about isn't a paint roller, it is a flat pad that apparently absorbs a lot of paint. I'm skeptical of course, but they make it look so easy and of course the results look wonderful on TV.

Heads up there about that Point N Paint thing....I found some links how not only is it a scam, but they might way overcharge you, instead of $19.95 plus shipping and handling, they might charge you over a hundred dollars! Here's an excerpt of complaints about it Got it from this website http://www.infomercialscams.com/scams/point_n_paint_complaints {Warning: this is NOT a referral link but a link about the Point N Paint product} 1/22/2009 - Margaret writes: I ordered in november and have tried to contact their coustomer service dept. of which does not answet. they have charged my checking acct. 140.63 for a 19.99 product. what can I do. thankyou 1/20/2009 - Tana writes: I ordered point and paint one month ago. I never received the product, so I began my research. I found some very helpful information on how to get customer service rather than a recording which will not connect you to a human being, so I followed the advice of others. I dialed 1 866 272 9951. The automated system assked me to press 2 for customer service. I got to speak to someone who told me they had't charged my acct. yet, which was going to be 136.95. This was for 1 point and paint. Imagine that...I could have hired a painter for that! I immediately cancelled my order. This is certainly a big scam! Do not buy a point and paint!!!!

After I posted the original discussion, I decided to look it up and found probably the same thing that you did here. There was something like 4-5 pages of complaints, mostly from people that either never received the product, or were charged double or triple what they were told, and no way to reach the company to get it fixed. The one entry I saw that was actually about the product itself said it was junk andn worked nothing like they showed it on TV. Nope, I won't be going anywhere near that one now.

As most users have said some work and some are just plain junk. I have bought the sushi maker though and it works great. Have my eyes on the Mighty Mendit since it looks cool and another user said it works great, so I may just get it. Sometimes it does pays to do research before buying. Mighty mendit on TV is 19.95, I found it on Ebay for just $9.95

I have never and dont plan to. They are overpriced cheap things that end up wasting space. I love some of the adds. If you call now we will include a 30 page step by step guide (hmmmmm that should be included anyway) or buy one get one free. I know someone who is adicted to things like this they buy them and hope they are going to need them one day.

Hey, girl, I see you and I are on the same page when it comes to infomercials! I am not against modern technology....but money is hard to come by, so I would sooner spend it on something I know about! Have a great weekend!

We ordered something from an infomercial not too long ago. We try not to in general, but it was these insoles that seemed like they would help my partner who has been having some trouble. They do work, we were actually billed correctly, and they arrived on time. It was a recording when we called, so there were not a lot of upsells. We took calls for a company that only processed those orders. It was most of those commercials that were on at the time. I grew to strongly dislike some of the products, as the calls where terrible. People would call to order a product, and there would be atleast 5 other products, with a full page to read to them, on each call. You had to read it to them, and people would get very angry, and sometimes, hang up, losing the sale. A lot of the deals would be a little misunderstood by the people calling, or perhaps the commercial didn't explain. So, that would aggrivate people as well, especially the ones where you were automatically signed up to a program just bu buying a product, and there would be no way to cancel out until you got your package. There are several products that to this day, I see on TV and groan, wondering how they are still able to be selling it with all the people I would get that would call and complain, threaten to sue, or tell me the customer service department for the company did not exist.

Those commercials have always drove me crazy but there have been a few times that I have bough the item to see if they would really work or not. The most recent though was the green bags and I was surprised when they actually worked and did help keep the produce in my fridge fresher for much longer than when I don't use ones. Most of the time though I wait till I find it at a local store and it is usually cheaper so when it doesn't work I am not as mad as I would of been if I spent more money on it.

Oh yea, I remember seeing those bags too, but they're not on nearly as often as some of the other crazy stuff. I think the bags are a great idea and that's one investment I will probably make at some point. I did see them (or something similar) at a store recently, but don't remember which one.

I would love a few ShamWow's and a Slap Chop..lol They make it sound like something fascinating to have I guess till you get it then think..What was I thinking..I have bought 2 PedEgg and a Smooth Away hair removal kit. They worked great but the smooth away takes a little more motion then a few swirls this way and a few back to be hairless. But it did remove all my hair on my arm..felt weird having hairless arms..lol But it grows back in days.

I actually purchased the one sweep broom. Thanks to my husband breaking the handle, I have to use it to sweep up stuff into the dust pan. If you own a dog or a cat that sheds, this is the best thing to get the hair up and out of the carpet. I can't remember, but a member here posted a link with nearly everything that's sold on tv. Now I can get me a new one, with two dogs that shed, I need it badly. Plus you can use it for a lot of things. I also got the ped egg, it works great for my aligator feet. I also got a few other things, and haven't had a problem with them. Sorry I haven't used the thing that you use to paint a wall with. I am leary about it being so small. Would be cool if it worked, I can paint a lot faster without having to worry about getting paint on frames. Some of the stuff is interesting, just the people they use to sell it are the ones that needs to stay away from coffee. The slap chop commercial is a hoot, especially when the guy says everybody loves his nuts, .

As soon as I figure out what it is I am getting a discombobulator! I once bought a special pencil "thingy" that if used correctly (?) will take all scratches off your eye glasses. You guessed it, it did not work! Friends of mine purchased this super dooper vacuum cleaner that could "suck" up a whole coffee table and yes for an extra $19.95 they got two! Well I borrowed said vacuum cleaner once and I spent a lot of extra time re-attaching the hose that continuously fell off! Now I will not bother unless I can at least physically pick up the object with my hands before parting with my hard earned cash. The names of these products are quite funny! Go figure!
