Does anybody believe in those books on parenting and how worthy they are? Do you think they are helpful or do you think you can handle parenthood on your own without any advice?

Yes, I do like books on parenting. One of my favorite parenting books is 'Raising Supaman' written by Nathaniel Turner. This book provides lots of tips on parenting and child care. You can check out the the first chapter of the book
The Raising Supaman Project is one of the best parenting websites in the world. We are dedicated to changing the world 1 Parent, 1 Child at a time.

I love parenting books and have learned so much from them. I also write parenting books and hope that others can learn from what I've presented. :-)

I read a few of them when I was pregnant but when it came down to a situation where I needed advice, I would call my mother! She did a great job raising me and has never steered me wrong. And a lot of those books are wrong--remember Dr. Spock and his crazy theories that ruined a generation of children? Even he said he wished he'd never written the books.

As a first time mom, and an avid reader, it was only natural for me to seek out books on pregnancy and parenting. I ate up both 'What to expect' books in days and I still have a subscription to Parents Mag. I don't/didn't swear by them, I don't always agree with or use the advise in these types of books. I enjoy them because they give my perspective of alot of things, they provide alternative methods of doing things, and they provide lots of ideas for fun activities for me and my son. I love that I can get money/time/sanity saving ideas from these books/mags! I try to keep an open mind and remember that while some things work for some, it may not work for others. First I go with my gut, as a mom, I use my common sense, instincts and past experiences to guide me. When it's not working, I'm not above seeking advise from other moms or other resources.
