time to take charge

I have always considered myself a frugal wannabe! As times are getting more difficult due to the economy, it's time to take charge and really dig my heels in. I am cooking at home more than I used to. I try to buy everything on sale and use coupons like a mad woman! I am always open to more ideas and things to try. I go behind everyone in the house and turn off lights when no one is in there or just a small lamp would do. I make my own soy candles, which may not be considered frugal, but they don't cause cancer like the ones you buy in stores and I will never burn another parrafin candle. ok, off of that soap box! lol I am trying desperately to teach my children the value of a dollar. They will learn if it kills me. They are adapting. We've never had lots of money, so the ride to living even more frugally has been pretty smooth. I guess I'm rambling...sorry, I tend to do that. Anyway, throw ideas my way..it will be appreciated!

I like to say I was born frugal, because I don't like to spend money! But one never quits learning and I still learn to do things I never thought about before. Just recently I made a batch of flour tortillas and froze them for when I want them... flour has gone up in price, but nowhere near the price of premade tortillas.
I keep lights turned off, unplug things when they're not in use, never go off and leave the TV or the radio or anything else on when I'm not using it. I recycle water as much as possible, keep the heat turned down and shop at thrift stores for much of what I need. The ways to being more frugal are endless.

I have always been fairly frugal, but every year I get a bet better at it. This past year I began making my own soaps and laundry detergents. It has saved me a ton. A lot of my family thinks I am nuts for it all, but we are happy and that is all that matters to me.

My main concern right now is my electric bill I really need to find ways to reduce that expense. It was really expensive this month the most it has ever been. I really need to do soemthing as far as that is concerned. I like to pay my bill every month but some months it is really alot more than others. I like to be able to pay it on time.
